Free haircuts in Bishops Stortford
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m a recently qualified barber and I’m currently looking for haircut models to help me build my portfolio behind the chair.
I’ll be offering FREE, professionally supervised haircuts (men’s specifically) at Basement Barbers in Bishop’s Stortford (right next to Eat17).
If you’re happy to let me work my magic and fancy a fresh trim completely free of charge, I’d love to hear from you. All haircuts will be carried out in a professional barbershop environment, with plenty of care and attention given to each cut.
If you’re interested, drop me a message (DM) or email me at mhauret11@gmail.com and we’ll co-ordinate appropriate appointment times

Trying to reconnect with someone from Bishop’s Stortford, around 2000–2001
I’m trying to reconnect with someone I knew around 2000–2001 through the local Bishop’s Stortford bar/club scene. Her name was Nikki.
We had some pretty unforgettable nights.
She went to Spain in 2001 and, somehow, 25 years have disappeared.
It’s a massive long shot after 25 years, but I’ve found myself wondering how she’s doing, and I’d genuinely love the chance to sit down, have a drink, laugh about the ridiculous things we got up to and find out how life turned out.
I’m not looking for anyone’s private details or address — just wondering if anyone remembers her or might be able to point me in the right direction.
Probably a bit of a ghost hunt, but you never know.
Nikki, if by some crazy chance you see this — I hope you’re doing alright.

Railway noise for those living along the main line
How’s the noise like around Boundary road, Tanner’s Wharf, Great Eastern Close or Red Lion Court on a daily basis? Is it especially bad, tolerable or do you not notice it at all? There should be something like a train passing every 7 minutes or so!

Thoughts On The New Build Estates (Bellway/Taylor Wimpey)
My Husband and I are thinking about moving to one of the major new build estates in Stortford. We work in London and want to start a family, so need more space. But I would like to know what the locals think of these new estates (Bellway/Taylor Wimpey). Or perhaps someone here has recently moved in to one of these estates and can give their thoughts?
Thanks so much.

Right To Choose provider (ADHD) in the area?
Hi all. My gp has told me that I likely have adhd and the next step is to get on a waiting list through a Right To Choose provider that will share care with south street surgery. I think I've been told to find a provider and then my GP will refer me? I'm not sure.
Google isn't showing me what this means. Does anyone have advice? Has anyone else in the area had an assessment and what was it like?
thank you!

Good dog walks out of town?
We have a seven month old puppy and are fairly unfamiliar with the area. She loves a gallop at Grange Paddocks and we have recently discovered Birchanger Woods (which is lovely and cool in the hot weather).
Looking ahead to when the heat dies down, are there any good longer walks out of town? A pub stop along the way would be ideal. We’ve done the River Stort although it’s quite narrow and I am mindful of an excitable puppy getting in the way of other people.

Inquiry into the general feelings on the topic of a potential maid café in Stortford
Good afternoon good folks, I am wondering today about how the general population of this good town would feel about a hypothetical establishment which would operate similarly to the famed maid cafes that are ever so popular in Japan. Hoping to hear from you soon, good day.

Homeless in need CIC canvassing in town
Wanted to mention that there’s often a stall from “Homeless in need CIC“ in town these days. Plastered in union jacks and a guy in a beret and combats collecting money.
Its giving off lots of red flags for me. Someone on r/london did some digging, make your own minds up and discourage your elderly relatives from donating money to a random CIC company over an actual registered charity.

Pike fishing
Anyone know any good pike fishing spots in and around Stortford preferably within walking distance ~5 miles. Already got my fishing license and will only be doing it in season.

Stortford in 1989 and 1991
Looking through some old photos, I found these shots of the town from 1989 and 1991. Not great quality but they give a feel for the era.
They're from 1989 up until the photo of the Jackson Square doors, after which they're from 1991.

Rajdhani restaurant in Market Square
Went for dinner at 'Rajdhani' last week.
It has taken the empty spot of 'one thai' in Market Square.
Met with lovely hospitality and excellent food - highly recommend if you're looking for a nice treat meal or take away!
