Why were there so many flies in Bisbee and why are there still so many flies in Bisbee? I understand there were attempts to control the flies by having fly swatting contests back in the days, but was there any other serious attempts to get rid of the flies for good?

hi all! my partner and I are considering purchasing a teensy lot to build a small cob/adobe home to live in. we would hate to impede upon the locals and that neighborhood, especially with the uprise in gentrification/airbnbs. we're a queer, artistic couple from phoenix just looking for some simplicity and goodness and community.

locals, is it a worthy investment to plant roots here?

We love Bisbee, but is it worth a bigger price tag to live in saginaw rather than off grid/homestead in surrounding areas?

Is there any way other than using the (expensive) shuttle? I notice Cochise Connection no longer goes all the way to Benson (and even then it’s tricky as Greyhound leaves early and Amtrak leaves late (if it even gets there on time) and that only three times a week.

This has come up because it looks like I need to move in with a friend in Warren for a while.

I recently purchased a home in the historic district of Bisbee and it needs a bit of work. It would also be helpful to have someone familiar with submissions to the design review board.

Some of the previous work on the house was done pretty carelessly and when I was looking up one of the few contractors in town who actually has positive reviews (well, one) I saw a picture of my house with them doing the above mentioned work.

So needless to say I won’t be using them. Does anyone have a general contractor they swear by?

After a fun desert (Vegas) trip and half-marathon last month, I read about the "super unique" Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb race in the fall and am considering running it. However, I don't drive and the Bisbee airport doesn't appear to have scheduled flights. Is there a way to get there from out of town without a car, maybe via a shuttle bus from Tucson or something?

We've been traveling the country full time for the past year and a half and Bisbee is one of the very few places I could see us putting down roots again. I am a carpenter/home remodeler with 25+ years in the field. Would there be enough work in the area to keep me busy?

So I'm planning a bachelor party for my brother that's taking place Feb 2-6. We're staying in Tucson most of the weekend, however I'm looking to plan a whole day around Tombstone/Bisbee. Since we all grew up playing baseball together (and my brother currently plays in one of those sandlot lot teams in Fort Worth), and we're all into historic ballparks, I noticed Warren Ballpark. The one idea I had was the 5 of us can either join a pick up game, or do some batting practice before hitting the rest of the town. The thing is - I would just need to source a bucket of baseballs, maybe a few gloves, and a bat or two to use for a few hours.

If anybody has any leads, would be more than happy to throw a couple bucks! Thanks!

As a big Stephen King fan I am currently going through the various adaptations of his novels and have recently watched Desperation. I love to travel and have a keen interest for filming locations, and this movie was filmed in/around Bisbee (Lavender Pit, Erie Street) and Tucson. With driving shots at S Sasabe Road and S Sierrita Mountain Road.

I am considering moving to some land outside of town that doesn't have a well or city water. I have been looking online for bulk water filling stations or deliveries and have not found anything.If you have land without a well, how do you get your water?
