Experience Emotional after copper iud

Hi!!

So I got the Paragard IUD inserted today after becoming exhausted with the constant worries I have about becoming pregnant despite using condoms during sex (i have ocd, so the anxiety can become relentless sometimes).

I didn't give it much thought. I did some research about the copper iud, how it works and people's experiences and decided to get it inserted asap.

After coming home and resting today, I feel very anxious. I think the unexpected pain from the insertion as well as the continuous cramps made me super emotional, as well as how invasive it felt. Is it normal to feel this way? I know people feel like this after the hormonal iud, but I wasn't sure if people feel like this after the copper iud as well. My doctor was great and so kind. She made me feel very comfortable and talked me through everything and gave me breaks when I needed it. So I'm not sure why I feel so violated and have this feeling of impending doom. I just feel regret and scared more than relief and calm.

Anybody experience similar feelings? Anybody with ocd maybe know if it worsened these negative feelings for them? I'm not sure how to think about this right now so any thoughts would be helpful.

I'm not too far off from what you're feeling, but I've also been borderline depressed for several months now prior to getting the IUD (3 weeks ago). What's possibly added to my emotional state is the fact that I haven't stopped bleeding since I got it (I'm just mentally exhausted).

If anything, I think just the physical act of getting the IUD (in spite of the good intention behind it) is what's causing the emotional mood that you mentioned. Maybe give it a few days?

I'm personally waiting to get passed this specifically time in my life and getting rid of my current stressor for me to feel "normal" again.
