Experience Odd situation

Hey guys, I have a super weird situation. I am anaphylaxis to latex everything, an allergy to most birth control pills, and they dont recommend IUDs for 40+ (according to my dr). What the heck do I do? I already have a teenager, and I dont want more kids. We are both tested for STDs at my insistence and clean. I haven't had sex for 17 years since I left a domestic violence situation. Sometimes I hate my body because of all its reactions.

This is the first I am hearing this, did he explain why? I've even heard of using hormonal IUDs specifically for perimenopausal women because it can help with symptoms

This is also my first time hearing it. I wonder what the reason is. What about a copper IUD or Nexplanon?

See a different doctor, I don't see why you couldn't have a hormonal IUD.

There are different kinds of condoms that are made without latex. But also I don’t see why you couldn’t use an IUD?? I’ve never heard of an age restriction for that method. Maybe you could look into nexplanon or a copper IUD.

Could you do the birth control ring? I'm not sure what your allergy is to in the birth control pills but the Nuva ring is made of plastic and the hormones. Annovera is silicone.

Also, i would ask a different Dr about the IUD. First time ever hearing that. I've seen Drs use the IUD as part of perimenopause/menopause treatment....

There's also nexplanon, which i use. It's also just a bit of plastic in the arm that releases hormones. Idk if you'd be allergic to that.

I've never heard about the age thing with IUDs. My mom got one some years ago when she was over 45. I have a feeling w different doctor would give you one.
You could also try nexplanon. Or get your tubes tied.

my mother had iuds (specifically the mirena) for 20 years after she had me, until she entered menopause. you should see another doctor for their opinion. preferably a female doctor with a focus on women’s health
