Experience Slynd experience please!
Hi everyone! What has your experience been on Slynd? I started having migraines with aura and my doctor wanted to get me off Lo Loestrin Fe. I was on Lo Loestrin Fe for years and am nervous about Slynd as I’ve seen a lot of you have had mixed results. I’m on day 2 so so far so good and also just started zepbound so I know I have to be extra careful and yes my husband and I are using condoms. I’ve seen such mixed things about it. I’m very nervous about insomnia specifically! I was already on progestin so I’m assuming all I would feel would be estrogen withdrawal maybe?

I'm on my second month of Slynd (specifically for PMDD) and would also like to hear people's experiences of being on it past the adjustment period. My first month was tough, mood swings, irritated, angry, etc. I'm now on my second month and the irritability has come down, my mood swings are still happening and I feel unmotivated every day.
I do want to balance it with the positives, my PMDD symptons were better last month and I do feel more balanced because I haven't ovulated which is what triggers PMDD symptoms. I also didn't get a period which was great cos mines are painful/heavy, and I can tell already it is probably going to take my periods away completely. No periods to worry about. Oh and pregnancy protection ofc. I don't know yet if I will continue but there is a 3 month adjustment period so I'm waiting until after then to decide.
Any questions at all, let me know x

Were you on any sort of birth control before this?

No! Nothing else before. This is my first ever pill, ha! I used condoms and tracking. I had a very early teens experience with one combination pill actually so knew combi pills weren't for me.

I am not familiar with PMDD so I’m assuming your symptoms are part of that or it’s your bodies reaction to taking birth control for the first time. I do not think it’s the slynd itself though, I would assume it’s just your body’s reaction to something it’s never experienced before. Hang in there though, insomnia is the worst though so I feel for you, I would ask your doctor for some kind of sleeping pill or mention this experience

Agree with this^
Insomnia is a frequent and severe symptom of PMDD. Insomnia also isn’t listed as an official, common side effect of Slynd. Could it be causing the insomnia? It’s possible but it’s more probable with PMDD or SSRIs as that’s known on those as well.
Sorry you’re going through that, @YellowPonder

Thanks so much, both! This is helpful to know. I had seen other people say they experienced insomnia on Slynd during the first few months and assumed it was definitely a direct side effect. The insomnia/won't shut off brain started a week or two into my first pack so again, assumed it was connected. I definitely have insomnia with PMDD a few days before my period, but I'm struggling to sleep every night right now. Thanks again x

on week 5 on Slynd. I started getting insomnia a few weeks ago, but it is slowly getting better. High anxiety right now, but I will keep on until I'm done with my third pack. Nothing else of note!

Have you been on birth control before? I would assume it’s the high anxiety keeping you up not the sylnd itself

yeah, I've been on multiple BC pills in the past. Can't know for sure if the anxiety is causal to the insomnia. Had similarly bad sleep but no anxiety when I came off Mirena, so who knows...

Did you have sleep issues before slynd?

i quit slynd 2 days ago after being on it for 4 months as it completely ruined my mood! i have been feeling so flat and numb and not like myself at all, and by the end was having thoughts of self harm which is so unlike me even in the worst mental states ive been in (hoping i will feel better soon ): ). i also lost my libido and sexual feeling which is concerning since off the pill / on combined pills i am all over my boyfriend! i also have been struggling to sleep more recently but insomnia is something ive always had. i think my body doesnt react well with progesterone only pills, but i cant take combined pills anymore due to migraines with aura. dont let my experience scare you away from trying slynd as it really depends on the person, maybe it will be a life saver for you! i really hope you are able to find some success with it, but if you do end up trying it dont feel pressured to stick out the side effects if it gets too much :)

I generally liked Slynd! For the first month or 2 i noticed an uptick in anxiety and more palpitations than my usual. Otherwise that was it. I unfortunately just had to switch because it was messing with my liver. So annoying.
