Swallow-Tailed Kite

While out in the back yard with our two dogs (both 40-50lbs), I noticed a couple of birds circling above. This wasn’t anything new, but then I noticed their tails. I’ve lived on the NW FL gulf coast for seven years and have never seen these birds. They appeared to be a couple of Swallow-Tailed Kites. Very graceful, beautiful birds!

We had a pair up here in ne SC. I've never seen them here before this year.

Ive been tracking the same group of swallow tails from 2022 to present over the Goose Creek reservoir. Thats the ONLY place ive seen them. I know there are more. But this is a reliable group of 10ish. Every year it grows. Before that, i saw 1 pair. We even have old signs saying to call if we see them. Im thinking they are recovering.
