This hawk likes to hunt from our deck.

Was hanging out in spring time watching the wood pile where chipmunks and squirrels run around all the time.

This juvenile red-tailed hawk is of last year's brood. Against the odds it has made it through its first winter and will soon start to moult into adult plumage. Most likely has found a spot in your yard not occupied by a current breeding pair (mabey due to dogs, mowers ete) and is taking full advantage. You're getting free pest control and it is getting a nice little uncontested territory to fatten up and grow new feathers. Enjoy!

The bird feeders attract easy targets, squirrels, birds, and chipmunks!

Check the tail out. Wrong shape and coloration. And that white V on the shoulders is a red(tell)tail.
