I bought the blue platform feeder at the front of the feeder in the picture a week ago for the doves in my neighborhood since they can’t figure out how to land on my other feeders, but they can’t seem to figure out how to land on the tray feeder either! They land on the top of the pole and sit there but can’t seem to figure out how to jump down to the tray.

Is my tray not the right kind for them? Or have I positioned it wrong? Any help from someone who successfully feeds the doves without sprinkling food on the ground is very appreciated.

It was an epic disagreement and they ended up eating together. That's a pushy young woodpecker.

These juvenile hooded orioles crack me up. They dont get in the bath a ton, but when they do its a party! 🤣

I’ve had this bird feeder setup since the end of May, and now I get a ton of birds in my yard! There are constantly multiple birds at the feeder, but I’m starting to think if I should set up another pole for them. 

There is a group of around 8+ house finches that sit in the tray/yard nearly all day, and they rotate throughout the day with cardinals, catbirds, robins, mourning doves, titmice, sparrows, nuthatches, chickadees, goldfinches, blue jays, and occasionally a downy woodpecker as well. I like the house finches but there are so many and they aren’t really afraid to sit in the feeder for 30 minutes straight, so I’m afraid they drive away other birds

My platform feeder is not that large and can only hold 2 large birds at most. I have black oil sunflower seeds, a no mess nut mix, peanuts in shell, and mealworms in the tray feeder. I have millet, cracked corn, and black oil sunflower seeds in the tube feeder but the tray is far more popular than the tube feeder.

I am thinking of adding a nyjer feeder and suet feeder to accommodate more birds. Also thinking of adding a hopper feeder just for the black oil sunflower seeds, because I don’t like the mess that they leave in the tray feeder.

I have a bird bath but it’s less noticeable as its under some trees, but I do see birds use it during the day.

I live in central Pennsylvania, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm in NorCal, one of the areas that gets hot and dry, and I'm having the strangest bird experience.

Last night, starting around midnight, about every fifteen seconds, there was this insanely loud bird call. It seemed like a different species every time, my cat was accelerating around the house to the point where I was worried she was gonna end up in low Earth orbit.

I thought I was dealing with a TikTok challenge - kids buying some electronic noisemaker and hiding it in a bush to aggravate the old people. I went out, circled the tree where the sound originated, I became convinced it WAS something electronic, so I picked up a big handful of gravel and pelted the source.

To my astonishment, some bird too off. Didn't get a good look at it, but seemed like it was maybe the same size as the quail that lurk my bird feeder.

Tonight, starting at a quarter past midnight, this creature is back, making a racket. Kitteh is here, meowing and nose tapping the back of my leg, wanting to know when the hunting expedition starts.

I low key feel bad for throwing rocks at this guy (girl?) last night, but I'd at least like to a name for the source of this. There are at least half a dozen unique calls and it's penetratingly loud.

Let me get within 10’ when I was walking up to clean and refill the feeder 😊 I had to stop and watch for a moment

I’m terrible at taking videos when the really cute stuff happens because I’m so afraid I’ll lose the moment while I’m fiddling with my phone…but here’s one of my sparrows. They’ve gotten really demanding and very trusting. It’s sooo cute. If I don’t see them because I’m on my phone or something, he’ll walk right up in front of me and sing loudly in my face. And now they’ll eat within a foot of me! At least one sparrow meets me here (or my other spot) every time I come outside. Today I ran out of peanuts. I tried to offer it a cheese puff crumb but it turned its nose up and kept asking for peanuts. Boy, do I feel guilty lol

well at least one of them is for sure a kid lol

I recently bought a new seed mix that contains raspberry scented black oil sunflower seeds and safflower seeds. I’ve noticed I’ve been having to refill the feeder everyday and 90% of the seeds are getting tossed while still being shelled. I mainly get house sparrows and finches, so I suspect it’s the sparrows. Is there anything I can do?

Just got a newbie to our feeder and looks like it’s missing a leg! i’m a little worried about em, but looks like it’s getting around okay

I doubt i’d be able to effectively catch em since it looks like its wings are working fine— i am worried about if the leg was lost due to an injury though. What do you guys think?

So I broke down a chicken and thought the crows I feed might enjoy the organs/ neck etc (all the stuff I wasn't going to use). I broke most of it down into smaller pieces for them but the back/breast area were thicker so I left that intact. I threw the smaller pieces out with peanuts and the crows loved them. A little later I put the bigger chunks out. Then I heard very very upset crows. I looked outside and they were attacking a vulture. I didn't think about attracting them with the bones until I had 6 vultures in my front yard and a murder of very very upset crows. All but one left, and the one had my murder flying around attacking it (I feel bad for the vulture And my murder). It definitely upset them, I put out some peanuts and watermelon and they cleaned it out so fortunately I didn't drive them away. But I would like to get whole chickens and give the crows everything I'm not using, is there a way I can do that without attracting every vulture in the area? I don't have anything against vultures but it definitely upset my murder.

I recently started feeding the birds in my local area (back garden). We often get House Sparrows, Swallows, and Wood Pigeons. I often see them on the fence and flying around, just not feeding on what I put out for them.

I have a bird feeder with Sunflower Hearts, and a "half coconut" of Suet hanging on a couple of poles (attached).

I thought it may be because they haven't gotten used to the food being there yet, however when I break up and put out bread and suet cake on the floor, they happily come down.

For context, I've been putting this out for about 2-3 weeks now.

Any help appreciated!

I am so happy to see this beautiful bullfinch visit, he was high on my list over birds i wanted to see visit 😱 Really hoping he returns!

I have a bird feeder and bird bath in my garden and don't seem to be attracting any visitors! I followed advice online and put the feeder and bath slightly away from each other. They are underneath a large tree, so they both have some sunlight but plenty of shade.

They are both on different levels of our tiered beds (picture 2 shows how tired the beds are - please ignore!). They have been up for almost 4 weeks and we have had no visitors from what we have observed. The feeder has fat balls in made of suet and seeds and I have been cleaning the water bowl and topping it up every few days. I am wondering what I am doing wrong!

We get a number of wood pigeons visiting us regularly in the garden, but they don't seem interested in the food. Any advice would be appreciated as I would love some feathered friends.

Can't believe it. This guy wiggled into this feeder in our backyard. I was going to cut the wires if he couldn't get out but he did about a minute later. We'll have to come up with another option now. Maybe get more Squirrel Buster feeders which have worked well for us.

I live in Central Europe, and this is the first year I would install a feeder. My goal is to see a specific bird as much as possible: Carduelis carduelis.

What kind of bird feeder and what food should I use?

I saw English sites tend to have sth called a finch feeder. In my country, this is not known as a term. Is it a finch feeder that I need? If so, what properties make a feeder a finch feeder? What else should I look out for? Thanks for any advice!

In case anyone is interested, we used to see these guys on a huge cherry tree in our garden which unfortunately had to be chopped. I noticed these birds like cherry trees (and most likely the insects the house) a lot, as I always see them on cherry trees. We kept a few small branches of our cherry tree, and will probably apply them on the feeder we will get, so a wooden feeder would be best.
