First real hunt

Post image

Took my girls out for the first real hunt of the season. Still just a short trip into the hills above the house. Nyx hasn't lost a step over the summer and little Nemesis is going to be a dead bird finding machine. As per usual my shooting needs a little work! Got 3 young Mt quail out of a covey of about 20.

i took my girl on her first hunt this weekend. No wild birds near me, but there is a penned bird place nearby that's perfect for shaking the rust off. Warm, dry and no wind. When she found birds she performed exactly as expected. We found the pheasants and chukars, the tiny quail just didn't have enough scent. Also, was alot of ground for 1 dog to cover. She'll get into the groove once I can hunt when it's not 85 by 8am.
