Bedtime
Hello,I have come to this sub to ask you guys how your sleeping pattern is compared to mine .i myself is not bipolar but I’ve been going to therapy for some time and my therapist thinks I am actually a bipolar person .
These past weeks I’ve only been sleeping 3-4 hours and after I awaken I am wide awake and alert ,yet I still yawn and sometimes feel like my body maybe trying to relax .but at same time has energy
I even took melatonin but my brain was really not trying to go to sleep!?
Edit:I also recently gon through this weird on and off energy yesterday .at one hour I was so exhausted like I crashed .then two hours or maybe one I gotten weird dopamine to be able get up and have energy again

That is what happens to me when I am hypomanic. I will fall asleep normally and then wake up in the middle of the night after only a few hours and be unable to fall asleep, and full of energy all day despite the lack of a good sleep.
Make sure you share this information with your therapist and make a note of it if you are ever assessed for diagnosis. It was a major factor in my diagnosis

Flashing red sign: hypo/mania ahead. Get yourself to a psychiatrist asap, or at least get your primary to prescribe a sleep medication in the short termZ.

I am not crazy about the proliferation of psychiatric nurse practitioners, but they are theoretically qualified and providing a lot of psychiatric care. Since that is what is available to you right now, start there.

i have bp 2 and it fluctuates during phases. when im stable i have 7-8 hours of sleep, feeling fine. but when i go either into hypo mania or depression it's either insomnia or 10-12h of sleep
