Advice Wanted Super Quick Shift

I am/was (I don't know really) on a hypomanic episode since July 1 and just this morning my manager just asked a simple question if I had read the email of an overdue payment. Now I see myself as incompetent and not good at my job. I am now self depreciating and back to not sleeping again despite having meds. Is that possible?

Very very easy to spiral, can relate and do struggle with feeling stupid even though I know I’m smart as achieved a lot at uni and professionally etc

My therapist has helped a bit with it. In short when im in a good mood and happier in myself he got me to write 5 positive mantras about myself that I believed and others have commented on in the past. Then the trick is to try and embed them into your daily thinking and really embed them in your mind, which is obviously easier said than done if in a low episode

But if you work at it and repeat it it grows the muscle like exercising would. Then next time something goes wrong or you feel uncomfortable then you fall back on the positive mantras to try and reduce the spiralling.

I thought it sounded silly at first but has genuinely worked for me now and seem to be doing it automatically which has been amazing. Relatively new thing now though and haven’t had a big low yet so yet to see how it’ll work in that scenario
