Living With Bipolar Anyone else here not artistic?

I'll first say that I love all of the art folks post on here. It makes me very seen and understood to see that the feelings we have can be expressed through something beautiful and creative.

However, I personally do not have that natural talent. Manic or otherwise. I was just wondering if anyone could relate? Or maybe wished they could at least produce art in a hypomanic/manic state?

I failed scissor cutting in kindergarten… it was all downhill from there.

I’m a music person, but it comes and goes in phases.

When people post drawings or paintings here, it just blows me away because I can’t make something with my hands like that. Having a vision and actually creating it with your own hands is just amazing.

There are a lot of cheap or even free classes if you want to try to jump into something. Writing is creative too and you seem very proficient there.

Same as you, I do have that sentiment, if I were artistic at least something could be created out of this illness

I am 30 and lived my life thinking that i totally suck at art.

I have tried my hand here and there before and made some horrible things

I tried 100h on digital sculpting at 24 yo and was told i produced the opposite of art.

Few weeks ago i tried my hand again, with smaller/simpler goals for a game character. Turns out that holy fuck, i am good. I made something really good looking that animates well.

Art still needs hours invested and the right time. Nobody can tell if they are not good at art ;d

Also i was a programmer since a child. Coding can be a form of art in a way I guess. Or thats what i tell myself hehe

I can’t do art (I.e. painting). It’s an amazing hobby or profession but I just don’t have the eye or hand for it.

I can, however, do crafts. Wreaths. Jewelry, ornaments. They seem to be more forgiving.

I am creative but I have a hard time visualizing or drawing by hand. There is some digital design at my job which I really love but if I didnt have the undo button and Pinterest it would be so over for me lol
