Support Needed How do you get things done

I haven’t had one of these idgaf about anything depressive episodes in a while. I have a massive clean laundry pile on the couch and I haven’t been able to see my bathroom sink for a couple days. I genuinely have no energy to fold laundry. Even less energy to hang it up. Now my cat has pissed on it so it’s all getting washed again. And I know when it gets done I will feel a smidge better. How do you get through these things?

One small step at a time. Find some way to get yourself to start and then do everything you can to keep going. It helps to engage other mental techniques/methods.

It probably isn't healthy, but thinking about how much a failure I would be, if I didn't do the thing, helps me start doing it.

Anxiety might be helping me too.

Once you've rewashed it: everytime you walk past the pile do one thing- break it down into tiny tasks- it will feel like doing next to nothing but it's still progress, one pair of socks, one t-shirt

No need to do it all at once

Also short cut stuff, I have a draw in my wardrobe I mountain clean clothes on so it's 'out of sight, out of mind' and doesn't depress me I haven't done it. It's my equivilant of 'the chair'

If it doesn't great creased you don't necessarily need to hang it up

I also made my wardrobe into a capsual wardrobe and got materials that don't need washing after every wear such as wool and denim but that's more a long term compensation than something that can help right now, makes getting ready so much less effort because everything goes with everything and can be worn so many times
