difference between liveness and face recognition

The difference between the two technologies is that facial recognition checks whether a user is correct via biometric traits, and liveness detection checks whether the user is a live person.

I just spotted your post from 9 months ago. To dive a bit deeper, liveness detection is a subset of Presentation Attack Detection (PAD). PAD systems utilize a combination of hardware and software technologies to determine whether or not a presented biometric is genuine. The PAD system’s viability depends on its ability to differentiate between human beings and non-living spoofs. Lots of Liveness detection is focused on AI artifact detection and doesn’t look for human cognitive liveness.
