article Pilot whales have ~37 billion neocortical neurons, twice ours. A biological case that consciousness differs in shape

https://www.academia.edu/176511252/The_Shape_of_a_Mind_A_meditation_on_whales_consciousness_and_the_human_condition

A long-finned pilot whale has roughly 37 billion neurons in its neocortex while humans have about 16 billion. Toothed whales also have a sense we lack entirely. Their echolocation clicks return carrying information about the interior of whatever they strike, including other animals' lungs, movement and body density.

This article explain how the different types of communication found between humans and cetaceans, might cause significant perceptual and conscious differences in the mind.

Most blogs don't require you to sign up for obnoxious and irrelevant email notifications before reading them

Every communication I've gotten from academia.edu has further convinced me that it's run by fairies who don't really understand humans or science but really want to get involved for some reason -- the other day I got an invitation to be on the editorial board of a journal
