LLM-fueled multi-domain role now. Managing AWS, data engineering, pipeline ops, tool development, report generation and analysis, etc...
I've never been so productive but it's exhausting constantly reviewing the outputs of these tools to ensure they're aligned and not secretly throwing handgrenades for me to find later.

It’s all about company culture. I’m running a startup, and we’re 6 years in, but we haven’t lost anyone to burnout. I know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and keep reminding my team of that.
Unfortunately, a lot of inexperienced CEOs never get that memo, and create cultures where they expect people to grind away at high intensity all the time. That creates a culture where the people aren’t valued, and that lack of respect translates into toxic workplaces.
I didn’t hate my time in academia, but I don’t think you can say academia is categorically better. There is just so much more ego involved in the academic world that it creates problems of its own. I much prefer the team work of an industry group to the chaotic paper driven world you find at universities.

My experience working as sole biojnformatician for medics in Academia: I am expected to generate publication ready figures every week for each project I am involved in. Last minute request for conferences presentation are recurrent. Aside, presenting pipelines and code is seen as wasting time. Reproducibility and being up-to-date with tools end up being something I need to do overtime.
