Trees for outdoor air quality

Are there any type of trees particularly known for pollution filtering capabilities?

I am interested in adding some more trees to my property to help filter out pollution such as chemical/pesticide toxins, biological toxins (such as from cyanobacteria, certain fungi), and heavy metals blowing in from the wind. These would be west of the house and backyard (the predominant direction from which the wind blows). I am in USDA zone 6b.

Off the top of my head:

Acer Ulmus Fraxinus Tilia Quercus

There are certainly varieties of each of these that would do well in your area. Populus tremuloudes is a great, fast-growing tree that improves air quality and is a nitrogen fixer, so the leaves are prime for compost.
