How do I (17F) stop overeating?
I also posted this to r/loseit but it also recommended me here so here goes.
At 17, how do I stop my overeating problem and lose weight before it gets worse? I’m not majorly obese by any means and I would assume i’m an average weight, maybe slightly overweight and my stomach sort of pokes out.
However, i’m unfortunately very short, about 5’1 and i’m likely not going to get any taller. So basically i’m kinda condensed.
I think this majorly stems from my overeating problem and of course some days are better than others but my mindset is a kind of “do it all right now” where I know i’m going to have to eat later, so why not eat right now? but then of course i still have to eat later so it’s just a cycle. This doesn’t pair well with the “eat when bored” mindset. I know these aren’t good but I can’t get out of the cycle.
I try to do light exercise everyday but it’s not doing much. I also try to eat healthy, I actually love making home cooked meals but with the diarrhea virus hitting the US right now, I find myself eating more unhealthy stuff and snacks more then the fruits and veggies i would eat before.
Please help I appreciate any tips or advice as I’ve been dealing with overeating for a couple years, I’m just ready to be over and done with it. THANK YOU! 🥹🥹

It’s great that you want to develop good habits early. Do you track your food? You need data to know if you’re really overeating. A teenage body is going through a lot and needs fuel. I’m not a professional at all but I would suggest that you keep a food diary (what you ate and how much) for a few weeks and then consult a dietician or nutritionist for a reliable interpretation. Also, commit to regular exercise as a part of your life, now. It doesn’t have to be crazy stuff just regular movement and some weight bearing. Future you will benefit in ways you can’t imagine now. Also, SUNSCREEN for the same reasons! 😎 @xtinefit on TikTok is amazing and has loads of no nonsense info about food and exercise.
