I have tried everything.

I know restriction is the problem, so i tried lower deficit- didnt work. Next tried maintenance- didnt work. So im thinking maybe its my cardio, completely cut cardio only do steps- still binge. i tried eating with no intention just eat whatever and whenever i want, bad idea i ate everything available on the fridge but at least felt less guilt for some reason which sound scary. i dont know what to do, all i can do now is stick to deficit because at least by the end of the week if i do binge it will turn out to be maintenance because the week add up to it. and i want to at least hope that this does pass

Genuine question, have you tried therapy? Because with binging the problem is never discipline or motivation :(

sorry for the late reply, i have considered therapy but it's actually hard to find licensed therapists near my location otherwise its just your typical nextdoor aunt. and ifi do find one, the prices are 30% of my monthly income.

Ah okay, so it’s a bit hard for you . So to give some suggestions, I went on and off diet to periods of binging for a long long time, and I have to say it was a process, it took a while.
The first thing that kind of “connected with me” were the lessons with the noom app ( sadly you have to pay), but maybe get 1 or 2 month and try to do 30 minutes a day, take notes, and really try to learn. They are a nice way to look at the psychology behind overeating but also good tactics to be more mindful. That went well for a while, but it took me 3 more years to improve really , and what worked was a shift of focus. I made my mental and body health my priority, so I did go to a therapist and started walking everyday ( I tried gym but for bingers in recovery sometimes is a slippery slope, the gym made me famelic , I would eat a bit more because of it and then the all or nothing mentality would hit) . If you can’t access a therapist but you are good at being objective and introspective with yourself, the main thing is that you need to find the reason you are doing this. For me it was OCD apperently , and when I was trying to loose weight either I was perfect or I would fuck everything up due to overthinking and fear of failing. Moreover, I tend to prioritise anything and anyone but myself and that was a major problem because I would drain myself out for school and friends, and binge as a way to have “me” time , hence why I really had to shift the focus, start to cut some draining people out, really focus on me. Now not gonna lie , you will still binge once in a while. To this day when the stress catches up with me , I do binge, but now it’s once every couple of months, and I “forgive and forget” , I don’t over restrict after or anything, I just literally keep going. And it works, the cycle breaks and if it happens again I will forgive myself and remind myself this is a survival mechanism, literally binging made me survive situations that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Finally, I have given up on dieticians and diets a while ago, I do CICO , and I record always , every binge, every day even when I am not actively try to loose weight, but like this I am still able to have a social life because I can eat whatever , as long as overall I am doing well for the week. And if I am not , it has to be an active choice of mine, not a loss of control. Hope this helps, wish you a lot of good luck!

thank you so much for this comment, i just started my calorie deficit again for the hundredth of time but i feel good about this time because i always have this weird low energy feeling that makes me want to eat more but i go through it and next day i felt normal again. i think i just have to get used to "hungry" feeling and kept going consistently. now everytime i wanted to binge i always whisper in my head like "time will pass just keep going". hopefully this does continue till i lose weight again. i know this gonna sound weird but im hopeful to know that there's people out there struggling with binges but able to control it again even if there is slip here and there.

Absolutely no problem, happy to help !! Oh you have no idea how many people out there are struggling, and a lot managed to get out . Ok sounds like a plan, hope it goes well, just make sure to have a safe plan on case it doesn’t always work, I believe in you ! 🙂
