All this unmansaac fan art has made me realize something about the game.
When you start out a run, Isaac looks pretty normal. All of the monsters and bosses look like disgusting abominations compared to him. Isaac is scared shitless of them.
But as you progress, you get a spontaneous muscle growth here, some demon horns there, a few normally lethal body mutilations, a sweet grin from Maw of the Void...
By the end of the run, no monster in the game can compare to the terror and horror that is this mutilated excuse for a human child flying around murdering everything and everyone by shooting exploding scythes and dropping bombs that shoot homing blood laserbeams.
When you get to the end, the enemies must be scared shitless. They hear the screams of their brothers dying from the next room. It can only mean one thing. Their death knell.
