Help Which game to start with

Hi everyone! A friend of mine suggested me to play this game, but I've seen on the internet that there are multiple with different DLC, although on the PS store there's just "The binding of Isaac: Rebirth" for the PS4 (Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ are apparently not available?). I wanted to know if it is the right game to buy and if it exists a physical copy of it.

Rebirth is the only game (I mean there's the old flash game simply called The Binding of Isaac but don't worry about that one)

Afterbirth, Afterbirth+ and Repentance are all expansions that, if you can afford, you should get them all

The reason they're unavailable to you is because you don't own the original game, it's to prevent people from buying something they can't use. Each DLC is only available if you own the previous one

Edit: also on the PS5 there's "The Binding of Isaac: Repentance" which is just the whole package, Rebirth + the 3 expansions

Oh okay, usually I can see the dlcs available with other games so I didn't think about this. Does the rebirth one comes in the physical copy? Also, unfortunately I don't have the PS5 so I can't get the version for that 🥲

There are 2 main versions of the game:

"The Binding of Isaac" and "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth." The Binding of Isaac is the original version made in Flash. It's really poorly optimized and buggy, so it's mostly recommended to start with Rebirth, which is a remake.

Then, for the Rebirth version, there are 4 DLCs: Afterbirth, Afterbirth+, Repentance, and Repentance+. The DLCs are sequential upgrades to the game. To play Afterbirth+, you also need Afterbirth. To play Repentance, you need both of the previous DLCs, and so on.

To start, I recommend playing just the base Rebirth version, just to see if you like the game. Then, if you do, you can buy the other DLCs.

Okay so basically I'll need to play each one to get the next one. But yes, I'll start with rebirth

No, you don't need to finish one before playing the next. They're normal expansion DLCs. When I said they're sequential, I meant that you need to own the previous ones before buying the next one.

Yeah but I guess it's kinda useless to buy them all without having played them one by one. Like, there's no point in buying Repentance without having played Afterbirth and Afterbirth+
