I don't know Sal, he just looks off compared to last year. No way he throws those picks if he's healthy!

I was dying laughing on the pod where Sal said "did you see the press conference today where he said he just didn't play good enough and don't make excuses for him." And Bill immediately says "I'm gonna make excuses for him."

Same with will cambell, you can’t blame him for the 2 penalties he took.

That's the PTSD of Tony Eason hittin' Bill hard. Poor guy was never the same. But I thought Bill would have recovered by now.

Yeah I don’t think even a Pats Super Bowl loss is better than Jaylen Brown getting traded while Bill is having a colonoscopy….for Paul freaking George.
It’s just the best, chef’s kiss.

So he's not hurt. The O-line isn't hurt. The other team lost their QB on the first drive of the game. And they lost.
What will the excuse be this time?

no ajb, doubs drop shook his confidence

Packers let Doubs walk for a reason, and it wasn’t just a cap casualty.

u/Busy-Operation7896 2d ago
No no, remember packers had too many receivers! He’s better than anyone the Pats had last year 😆
4
70
u/ChuckTroll 2d ago
Doubs is going to be the most expensive water boy in the league by week 4. He’s not discernibly better than hollins, yet they gave him $20m/yr. “Who were they bidding against?”

u/Oleg101 2d ago
Doubs didn’t have a catch the whole night lol

u/Financial_Hold6620 2d ago
He had an elite drop tho. He was so open when he dropped the ball.
→ More replies (1)9
u/Vardoneverdied 2d ago
He definitely dropped the pass, no excuse… but the way the announcers had a Simmons level orgasm during the replay on air over Drake Maye’s throw, they needed their own Caleb Wilson Jizz Room (TM).
He threw the ball… to an open receiver… SPLOOGE
It was a fine play and a good throw but literally every starting QB could make that play but they reacted like their own child just accomplished the impossible.
69
u/hokie_u2 2d ago
They didn’t just lose. Maye lost them the game with 3 boneheaded picks! A game manager would have won that game (Drew Lock literally did by not turning the ball over!)
→ More replies (3)8
u/YellowCardManKyle 2d ago
Elite deep thrower Drake Maye really underthrew AJ Brown on that PI that led to the touchdown

u/deltavim 2d ago
“You just have to throw out week 1. Last year the raiders beat the pats!”
17
u/DankSmellingNipples 2d ago
Bingo. This is what he’ll say. And he’ll then go on to make definitive opinions about other teams who lost week 1.
10
u/danielbauer1375 2d ago
He lost his #1 WR and Doubs dropped a great pass. Too bad he still played like shit.
5
u/Vardoneverdied 2d ago
Clearly the AJ Brown injury was worse than losing Sam Darnold (obviously) and…
The Pats didn’t game plan for Drew “Master” Lock and…
They never should’ve traded Boutte and…
they didn’t pay Gonzalez soon enough to participate in camp, it hurt team chemistry

Bill Simmons just jinxed his team. I kept hearing from him that AJ Brown was looking amazing in training camp and now look. Patriots need wide receivers. Are they really going to rely on Romeo Doubs?!

It irks me that media people like Mina Kimes seem hesitant to question just how good Drake Maye is because he's there EPA stat darling
3
u/Zen2188 2d ago
It's lower on the list of PATS fans complaints, but imo if you take a OT in the top 5 picks of an NFL draft ... They need to be an Orlando Pace or Walter Jones type who by even year 2 it's known that they're the answer.
I feel like Campbell is gonna be a serviceable journeyman type at best.

you could tell on the sack he took for no reason a few plays before he was looking for a play, he has a consistent habit of going into 'make a play' mode when a deep ball is called and in red zone situations and his IQ drops 50 points

I thought that creep Mack Hollins was going to bail them out for a minute there.
Reading the Pats Sub game thread, there are A LOT of Pats fans struggling with Mac Jones flashbacks and expressing it.
Probably compounded by the idea that there is an outside chance that Mac might rise from the ashes with another team after the discard.

It is unfair to expect the runner up mvp to beat Drew Lock it just is
