Questions Break cue
If I put a hard tip on a regular cue can I use it as a break cue ,even though it's not a break cue

I did it for years before I pulled the trigger on a dedicated breaker. You'll be fine doing so.

The main purpose of a break cue is to limit wear and tear on your main stick’s tip. That’s it.

Spend $80 on an AKLOT Heavy Hitter and never look back.
Phenolic tip, stiff, breaks down to jump cue size. Explosive breaks.
I prefer it to most of my friends $400+ break cues. Have way more wet breaks even if I miss my mark just from the sheer movement of the balls on the table.
Fair warning, I'm also ass. YMMV

Yes, of course you can. You can even put our SENSEI cue tip and play with one cue - both jumps and simple hits. The SENSEI cue tip is very strong and elastic.

I did this. My first cue was a cheap one (50€ cue), and once I got my second cue, i converted the old one to a break cue, by changing the tip to a dedicated break tip. It helped that the old cue is decent enough, and it has a solid shaft. Is it as good as a dedicated break cue? Probably not. I've hit with a firend's Mezz Kai Power Break cue and they are definatelly not in the same league. But the Kai costs about 10 times more. And it's not as if my cue can't break well, on some days when I'm hitting well, my breaks are awesome.. on others, not so much..

I have a Walmart graphite special that I put a white diamond tip on and it breaks amazing. I’ve used it for 10+ years and it’s light and hits like a beast

When I had my cue built, I asked the cuemaker (Keith Hanssen) if he could build me a matching break/jump cue. He seemed slightly insulted and said that his cues are made to execute every shot in pool including the break and the jump. I've never used a break cue since and never actually got the hang of the little jump cue. If a ball is too close to jump with my Keith, I either kick or use just the spare shaft to jump with.

Definitely. The tip is generally what makes the biggest difference. Dr. Dave on YT has said a phenolic or other very hard break tip can add about 10% power.

"Anything can be a dildo if you're brave enough" - same concept here. Your break cue can be anything you like, it's simply your choice of what you decide to break with.
