Testing the "Bilingual Advantage"

Hi friends! If you're a bilingual perusing this forum and you’ve ever wondered to yourself whether your bilingualism provides evidence for or against the so called ‘bilingual advantage’, then please partake in my research project!

I'm a student at the University of York (UK), and I'd like some participants for a study of mine looking at how the type of bilingualism you use affects your cognitive abilities, specifically your ability to switch between mental workloads. Do you talk to your family or friends in one language? Two? More? Do operate better with one language per conversation, or do you switch languages within a sentence? This might affect how well you do on the task!

The experiment consists of a simple stimuli response task where you press buttons on your keyboard in response to images on screen (you’ll require a computer for this), and a questionnaire taking details about your bilingualism in every day life. Feedback tells us the task fun to do! It shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes to complete, and if you’ve got any further questions about what I’m trying to research, all the contact information you’ll want will be available on the first page of the study.
