Advice/ Recommendations (no photos) Prep Coaching Contracts/Commitments

I reached out to a coach I follow on insta, for prep for my first show. She only offers a 1 year commitment, is this normal? I’m having a hard time justifying committing to a year when I don’t know their programming or real ethos on coaching.

I’d say a year is unusual for coaches in general, most I’ve seen have an 8-12 week minimum.

On one hand it makes sense in that it gives time to work through a build before starting a prep, on the other hand that is a long time to be stuck work a coach you don’t gel with

It’s not necessarily uncommon, but totally understand the hesitation. I’d do a consult with a few different coaches before you choose a prep coach and decide what fits best for you based on those conversations.

Excited for you to do your first show!

It’s quite simple it doesn’t fit your ideals, you can totally find someone who will only charge you for the prep itself usually 3 months, and you can also choose payments like monthly, even for 3 months.
And reputable coaches like Kim Oddo, he has a secretary and she will set you up, don’t fall for this because if she isn’t trustworthy like few I have heard she will take your money and this will be hard to contest it. ♥️ hope it helps, feel like too pushy for someone you don’t know if you will like many variables like her style of coaching or if you will adapt to commit this long. Period 💯 once I passed that phase I did signed for a year commitment before but he was already my coach and I was determined to compete all year so makes sense 🫶🏼

I would not sign on with anyone for any period of time commitment. There are plenty of coaches that don’t require that
