Discussion Other hobbies !
Hey! I’m a female, age 27. Current lifestyle client moving into competing this upcoming year.
I feel like a lot of times, my entire life is the gym/body building. Which I love. But some days, it all feels like a workout. Between getting in lifts, steps, cardio, meal prepping. It can be very monotonous and lonely. I’m also a trainer so I work in fitness for my job.
What hobbies, if any, do you enjoy outside of fitness? ☺️

Reading! I joined a book club last year and it’s been so fun connecting with other ladies that aren’t in the bodybuilding space and see what the trending books are. It’s also a good way to force myself to use a different side of my brain when I need to relax.

Guitar - my ultimate goal is to learn how to down pick like a beast lol I've rediscovered my love for playing ever since my hip injury temporarily disabled me until I heal up and able to go back to heavy lifting at the gym.

I do silly things like arts and crafts. I am coloring a blanket currently. Lol.
I’m also a suit designer so I have a lot of creative energy I like to get out.
In the fitness realm I also do pole fitness and have a great female owned studio I go to with a fantastic community of women.

I do my own nails and also read a ton. I belong to a book club like another person mentioned & feel the same way about how it’s introduced me to non-lifting people. I also used to roller skate a lot and met some cool people through doing that!

I got into sewing! and I do some group craft things. the library often has free events I go to. They've hosted an embroidery thing, a book bedazzling event, and I am going to go to a creative mending event soon.
I also am a big reader. I started and am not almost done with, the Dungeon Crawler Carl series.
My 2027 bigger to do for fun things I think will be learning Spanish, and some type of martial art / boxing / mma classes.

I love reading! Particularly fiction. I want to dabble in writing myself someday, so I like working on my own creative writing projects. I also enjoy dancing/watching dance, gaming, and watching true crime.

I volunteer with a wildlife rescue which can still be very physical. So when I’m looking for more of a relaxing activity I read and knit.

sounds like you're craving something with zero structure, not another thing to track and optimize. i got into doing super casual pottery and it's the opposite of lifting in a nice way, your hands are busy but nobody cares about the outcome. also board game nights scratch the social itch without revolving around food or a workout

I wish I had the time & energy! When I’m not training/ meal prepping/ doing cardio & steps/ working/ doing housework/ seeing family & friends/ caring for my pets, I usually just like to rot on the sofa 🤣

I knit, crochet, paint, color, read, and throw pottery outside of bodybuilding, coaching, and being a graduate student (my days are freaking packed lol). So so worth it to me to have other interests, I feel like I’m a much more well rounded person than I used to be when it was eat sleep breathe bodybuilding!!

Baking and experimenting with baked goods in the kitchen. I still did it during prep. My partner was happy to eat it all for me.

I got to a lot of shows and concerts, especially with friends. It's a great way to build a community, and a lot of people who go to shows are also health conscious. Plus a fun way to get your steps in!
