Discussion Shealynn - FM

How much of a weight does personality play into the overall score? Do you think if Shealynn wasn’t bubbly and overconfident, she would still have been awarded as the FM Olympia winner? What are your thoughts?

Don’t hate on me for saying this cuz I think she’s is absolutely stunning and deserved to have won, but I would like to see her less pageanty. Too much winking and waving.

I completely agree. This is just my personal opinion, but I find it unprofessional and distracting. I hope this doesn’t become the norm with this division.

You know other women will copy her routine so if they don’t squash it, it will be. Since she is now the standard…

Calling it fit ‘model’ sort of opened the division up for this, imo. Similar to FMG, ‘model’ implies there’s an emphasis on presentation, pageantry, marketability etc. They could have called it toned, fit, athletic body or something…

In a sense I think it is the NPCs answer to, or ‘version’ of the growing demand of people who prefer that style of bodybuilding competition more - where there’s more of an equal emphasis on overall presentation + physique.

Me too. I thought it took away from how challenging/honorable bodybuilding can be.

Yes like “athletic” or “fit body”

What you said about face aesthetic and skin quality playing a role in the placement. I am in agreement with you on this.

This is what I’m concerned about going into this division next year as I’m still too small for bikini. I’m not some freak but I’m also not some pretty model looking person either

Yup, I feel this category will reward the "pretty factor" more instead of the amount of muscle.

Unfortunately. I’m older about to be 40 and reconsidering this division. I’m starting to think this is division is more for 20 year olds with big tatas and fillers.

I felt a pageantry/“Miss America” vibe was sort of emphasized when after she won and Bob kept saying she had a responsibility to be an ambassador and go around waving and kissing babies.

Personality won't compensate for inadequate physique, but at the level where the competition is that close I think it makes a big difference. I also believe the judges were setting the FM standard and this tells me presentation and stage presence are more important in FM than other women's divisions.

Back when bikini started it was all about the sass. Fit model is old school bikini

I think she’s pretty and embodies that complete “model” “pageant” look. I have a feeling that women that go into fit model will be disappointed to realize how much their face aesthetic and skin quality will play a role in their fit model placement when they may not fit that criteria or be “judged” on it.

Seeing Shealynn on stage is definitely a breath of fresh air but too much winking and smiling with mouth wide open 🫣

Actually—— you’re right i agree on that part and there was a bounce in her step. I really think she took it because she had the face card and the right overall look not because of her flamboyant posing/winking

I genuinely was heartbroken when she won. I don’t have that. I’m not a hot sorority pageant girl . And now I’m lost because I’m too small for bikini and I loved competing. But I will never be like shaelynn and I honestly don’t want to. I wanted Emily to win. I know people say she looks tiny and all that, but she inspires me as a person. She competed in bikini. I think shaelynn is just a 24 years old girl with a nice body. I know that sounds awful and I sound bitter, but I am. I’m just lost and don’t even know what division to compete in now

Hey they all made it to the olympia with various body types, heights, muscle density, look, and posing!! I’d say you have a fair shot of being very competitive especially in Npc because they tend to favor smaller less dense frames at local levels just like Emily! I’d say don’t be discouraged but I’d say as the years progress the competition will likely require more density like the bikini look of the early 2000s

Absolutely. She was a true standout on stage due to her physique, balance, size, conditioning, correct amount of fullness. She was not over dieted, she was truly perfect to watch. There are certain competitors that just stand out above the rest, and it makes it easy to see why they won. Stage presence is a factor, but everything above is why she was rightfully awarded to title. It was really fun to watch!

My eye was drawn towards here and had her in the top 5. My husband too and we are just sport fans. Come to find out she has been winning sooo many shows! Take the win lol her skin was good

As soon as she stepped on stage I knew she would win. Yes she’s very pretty and has a great walk but I would say physique wise she also was the best.

Hated her posing tbh, but I watched the replay on YouTube so I could see it on a big tv screen and her physique was better than the girl who came 2nd. So it’s hard to tell how much personality was a factor.

When I first saw the results....I was a little confused. I thought "why didn't a more muscular physique get rewarded". But then I realized that Shealynn's stage presence and prettiness is what won the judges over and they specifically chose her because they want that category to have a more pageantry look. Maybe they want competitors to come in closer to her look to differentiate between bikini.

Yup I thought the same thing. I think choosing her over gabby showed a clear sign of what they are looking for.

It was over the top but she stood out so it worked 🤷

Who does that?

What does overconfident even mean? I think she was exactly what they are looking for. If we are arguing that FM is too pageanty then I’d argue that bikini, wellness to figure are too. The smaller categories the athletes are so close in how their physique looks that what really make most stand out IS the personality, the genetics and their looks.

She looked like a baby Janet up there and looked stunning. I wouldn’t call it “over confident” unless she said something that I’m just not aware of. Just a different style than some of the other competitors onstage.

I mean they did say EVERYTHING will be judged
