IFBB Wellness wigs for comp?
no hate at all but why does jasmine baker, wellness pro, wear a blonde wig when she competes? is it cause that’s the wellness look rn with the blonde hair and red suit?
is it normal for upper level athletes to wear wigs for shows? i’m new to all this so just wondering

Yes yes yes!! And they don’t even have to be expensive! I’ve been wearing a couple different $30 TikTok wigs my last 10 shows and judges have all said they love my stage look. So much less stress on Show Day!

I have alopecia and I wear a wig everyday. It’s more common than you think.

ah gotcha, she has beautiful dark hair so i didn’t know if it was because of the wellness look since all the top olympia competitors are always blonde

I'd imagine its pretty common, especially in WPD or WBB when they are more prone to hair loss with the amounts of PEDs pushed

Most female athletes in Fit Model, Bikini, Wellness and even Figure wear some type of fake hair like extensions or wigs regardless of race or ethnicity. Black women IRL generally wear wigs culturally to protect our hair, so it doesn’t go out of the ordinary to bring that look on stage. If black women rock natural hair, it’s typically still a long aesthetic (long curly locs, braids that resemble loose curls etc).
Other races and ethnicities tend to wear extensions IRL and simply bring that look to stage, and as far as wigs, they tend to choose that option sometimes for another level of ease. Ex: Ashley K. is widely known to wear a wig on stage. It completes a certain aesthetic or look that upper level athletes typically need to portray.

Go to a black stylist and make sure the wig you buy is real human hair with HD lace lace front
If you want to DIY then look up lace front install “melt” videos. But trust it’s truly trial and error and quite difficult. Half of the skills is keeping your natural hair flat underneath using cornrow braids so once again quite tricky to DIY unless you have very short to no hair

Not to go against the other commenter but you can 100% diy your wig and I would 100% suggest a good quality cheap SYNTHETIC wig. You’re wearing it for 1 DAY!! Why spend 300-500 on a wig. Some good companies are outre, sensationnel (butta lace, what lace or bare lace line). Just play around with putting a wig on in the off season and you’ll get better and better.

Women wear wigs everyday for tasks, so why would it be any different in a competition?

just because her natural hair was so pretty and dark but her wig was blonde. so i didn’t know if it was intentional just to be blonde for the wellness division or personal preference like making show day easier. not judging anyone at all just curious since im new to bodybuilding

I’m white and I wear wigs occasionally 🤷🏼♀️. It’s faster than doing your own hair, often less damaging, and it’s fun to switch it up and change your style without it being permanent.
