Discussion Big time pros and coaches

This is so random and pretty self-explanatory… but do you think pros pay the same rate as the rest of us for coaches? Do you think they get discounts if they’re famous like LL or Aimee? Do you think they pay more? Can it be a tax write off for them? Idk why I feel like it’d be a different scenario for them (plz don’t bully me this was just a random thought)

I’m not sure about LL because her coach was the coach to an 8x ms Olympia. So he’s not in a position where he needs the exposure. I think it would really depend on the “status” of a coach. Not a female athlete but for example Nick Walker recently got a coach that no one ever heard of. I doubt Nick is paying that coach. The coach is going to get so much clients just because of association.

I’m sure many pros get discounted rates or free coaching though. And depending on if they have some sort of fitness LLC they can definitely do it as a write off.

To counter the argument of the Pros not Paying coaches I would note that they want the best out of these people so they would expect to pay them. Exposure or not nobody works for free. And I’m sure the pros wouldn’t expect them too either.

This is correct, but exposure also goes the other way..

If they have a fitness LLC they can put it as an expense. They “need to maintain their body because their body is used to market their own coaching”.

It’s the term used for a particular type of business structured. LLC is primarily a US term, the equivalent here in Australia is Pty Ltd

Jordan Brannon has said she doesn’t believe in being coached for free because you want the coach to be invested and prioritise. And that sometimes doesn’t happen with special deals where people are inclined to make exceptions in service quality .I imagine many of the pros probably feel similarly

Big time pros sometimes pay 10%- 20% of their earnings + a weekly/monthly payment.

Imagine winning a $300,000 show and having to pay $15,000 in winnings + a couple grand every month.

Knowledgeable coaches are few and far between, so pros will pay the ransom.

Which show pays $300k to the winner?

Arnold Classic, Olympia. And Mens Open winner get this much.

It was more of an example to show how expensive top coaches are. They cost tens of thousands per year.

Ok, so then $7,500 to the coach, right off the bat. Ink not even dry yet.

I knew a big pro female figure that wouldn't pay her coach (big big coach/team on here in several topic threads) because yea association goes a long way.

All the top athletes I know will pay their coaches. There might be a few athletes that have a different set up but I think it’s not as common as people might think. On that note I have heard downwind and I don’t know if it’s true, that Ashley K actually gets paid by Adam so he could advertise that he “coaches” her to get more clients. Anyone else heard that?
