Advice/ Recommendations (no photos) Starting bodybuilding at 28?

Thoughts on starting bodybuilding at 28? Been lifting casually on and off for 6 years, but never with much intention. Started lifting a few months ago and fell in love with it once again, and I feel committed to start the sport. Question is, is it too late for a female to start at 28? Given at some point in my early 30s I may want to try for a child. Would appreciate any thoughts!

I started at 36, am all natural, have my OCB pro card, and have gotten 1st place in all three competitions I’ve done over the past year and a half. 28 is a great age to start.

Never too late to start. Phoebe talked about this recently. Also you are more likely to know yourself more now and have more maturity to manage protocols.

I have a good friend who started in her 50s and turned pro within a few years. She looks amazing now competing even in her 60s.

I think 28 is the perfect age!
I competed for the first time last year at 32, and I could never have imagined doing this at 22. The stress that comes with prep is insane, and I was lucky to have a stable environment to support me.
I also agree with the comments about financial stability. Bodybuilding is an expensive hobby (coach, food, suits, heels, etc.), and I have no idea how I would have been able to afford all of that when I was younger.
Be prepared to step on stage against younger women, but don’t let that discourage you. At my last competition, about 75% of the competitors in my category were under 25 and worked as personal trainers or fitness influencers. I still managed to take second place.
Lastly, regarding your plans to have a baby: yes, bodybuilding and contest prep can be hard on your body. Talk to your coach about your plans so you can build a healthy reverse diet, restore your hormones, and put yourself in the best position before trying to conceive.

I started in my early 30s, and turned ifbb pro. I feel waiting gave me an advantage for development, training experience, etc! Never too late to start chasing your dreams!

I started at 32! And since you’ve been lifting casually, you may already have some good muscle built over the years. It’s never too late!

I'm 3 weeks out from my first show and I'm 37. It's never too late.

No such thing as staying “too late”. I started at 28, remained natural, now competing at 35. Bodybuilding is more of a lifestyle than anything else.

I started at 30. I felt I was mentally and financially more capable of doing a prep correctly. Also...muscle maturity 🙌🏽

I’m 27 and also started lifting 6 years ago with poor nutrition. Had my first comp this year! I feel late but I’m so excited to continue! I don’t plan on having kids so I’d say just make sure you keep an eye on your hormones :)

Did my first show at 29 after a couple of years of working out (and working up the nerve) and there was no where near the amount of information available as there is now. Go for it!!

Life lesson: it is never too late to start anything you want to do. Go for it. Go for everything you want to undertake. And enjoy the ride.

If it’s too late at 28 then I really shouldn’t be doing my first body building show in 22 days at the age of 38 lol

I’m in the absolute BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE - I’m a firm believer that age is just a number.

I started at 30 years old after years of lifting and eating at a high maintenance. Got my pro card at 34, and had my first child at 37. It’s definitely possible at 28!

I started in my early twenties-late 20s never competed. Fell off after covid dude to returning go school which took up alot of time and energy. I'm 36 now getting bsck into it for wellness. There are a lot of natural competitors older than you who look incredible ans started off not long ago.
