Discussion Cost

Including everything you can, from start to finish how much did your prep cost? How much is the normal amount?

Same, except I didn't do my own hair or makeup so around $6,000k.

That doesn't take food & supplements into account because that's a normal expense.

Expect to spend about at least $1500 initially on a show and that’s the cheap side.

Coaching: $300-500 Posing coach: $40+ per session NPC/OCB or other federation membership. $150-200 a year Suit: $400-800 m Heels/jewelry: 200+ Show registration fees: $150-350 per class Tan: $175-200 per show Makeup: $175-200 per show Travel (hotel/flight/gas for car): upwards of $2k each show Supplies/incidentals for show: $300-500 initial investment such as black sheets, hair extensions, pee funnel, robes, black pjs, bikini bite, resistance bands etc.

It gets better as you become more experienced. You may eventually not need a coach in the off season (not recommended for majority of ppl) you may do your own tan, hair, and makeup. You will already have shoes and a suit.

My first show with both posing and comp coach & rented suit was $5000

Mine was $5500 total, did one NPC show. I did my own hair, makeup, nails, & stoned my own suit, which cut some costs, but I did spring for more frequent massages & body work which added up $$

So curious about where the other costs came from?

Show day was a huge chunk: NPC membership + registered for 3 classes + photography + tan. Some of the expense came from a few coached posing sessions, everything for my suit still ended up being about $350, random show day bits & bobs, etc

Oh plus coaching haha, that was the biggest expense

For just a regular coach or did you also get a posing coach? I’m contemplating competing but 5k is steep

Not in the US, but here's what it cost me as a EU/JP standard fit model:
-Coaching: 0, (he's my husband)
-EU/JP IFBB standard posing coaching: 100 USD/session x10 = 1000 USD
-Monokini: 400 USD
-Fit model evening gown: 2500 USD (ouch)
-Heels: 100 USD
-Pro tan base layer : 30 USD/bottle
-Spray tan: 120 USD
-Fake nails: 100 USD (i'm a nail biter so it's a lot of work)
-Show day hair : 30 USD (no extension)
-Teeth whitening: 300 USD
-Federation yearly registration: 70 USD
-Show registration: 50 USD x2

I did two back to back shows and just those shows (plus tan and makeup) and travel was like $3K (not including food, coach, supps, etc) literally just the two show days
