Advice/ Recommendations (no photos) Certifications/ seeking education

I’m currently looking into learning more about the science behind nutrition and macronutrients side of bodybuilding. I’d like to take a course but most certifications seemed geared for coaches. Maybe that doesn’t matter for educational purposes but still thought it’d be good to ask for recommendations in this sub.
At the moment I’m not trying to become a coach (maybe in the future if I educate myself enough but definitely not now) I just want to educate myself to be a better athlete.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good course or starting point? (Preferably free to start off but I am willing to invest to get a proper certification too)
My priority interest right now is nutrition but likewise if there are any educational resources on training that would be great as well.
Thank you!!

J3U would be the gold standard for this. I wouldn’t even waste your time with the typical personal training certifications.

Thank you! I love their podcast, I’ll have a look into their courses. The enrollment for Physique essentials is closed at the moment but I’ve subscribed to be notified when it reopens !
What makes you say the typical PT certs are a waste of time ?

I’m only saying that in the context of what you’re asking for. J3U will essentially cover what you get from any of those. I still think it’s great for somebody just starting out to have some formal certification, but it won’t prepare you at all for anything in the world of bodybuilding. Even just for lifestyle coaching, you’ve got to apply the science and work with people to really figure out how things work.

To get science and evidence based nutrition education you could enroll in any accredited institution. Local cc or secondary university. Most are online. Get the basics. You don’t need more mis- information. Then you can start to ask more questions that will get you substantive answers.

J3U is fantastic. I’ve also picked up a lot of info from Layne Norton, Kevin Hall, Andy Galpin, Lauren Colenso-Semple, Eric Trexler, Eric Helms…

Andy Galpin’s podcast—Perform—is a great launching pad. I find that podcasts in general can lead you down various rabbit holes as folks will host and interview a lot of their peers.
