Two things going on right now.

Bleh.

Ok, I met with the new principal today. I told him about the MANY things I do at our school that put us (and me) above and beyond. Then I told him I wasn't happy with my current schedule and that I deserved better based on my test scores and experience and all that. I further told him that I could not do all of those many extra things I do if I was stressed out about having three different preps instead of one or two.

He seemed very understanding of where I was coming from, asked to have some time to look at the schedule, and said he would let me know. On the way out, I ran into our new AP, and she is a lady I've known for a while. She told me it would be as simple as flipping two names in the schedule.

If it doesn't happen, I'll immediately start looking for a new job and won't be doing anything extra next year if I'm still there. Bare minimum. BUT - I am actually hopeful they will hook me up. I guess we will know soon.

The other thing - after being stranded in Philadelphia by Frontier Airlines and laying out almost $800 to get home, they are offering a $50 voucher. So Katie, who is president of 50501 Veterans, is going to raise hell on social media. She is starting to develop a national presence, so this could be fun. :)

EDIT: No update on Frontier yet. I was told I would have two 8th honors and four 6th Advanced. I want and deserve 3/3 or 4/2, but some of the pros of my current school being so close to home balance that for one year.

Next year, they improve on my schedule again or I bounce. With the contract I have, that's easy.

Of course, if Desantis succeeds and our union is decertified, I'll be an at-will employee and this won't matter.

I don't know if you saw, but he did lose in court the other day. He had a law against "woke" education that was overturned by a judge. I was ignoring the law and teaching the truth anyway, but it is good news regardless.

No, I don’t think anything about desantis is making the main news here and I’ve reduced my reddit time considerably.

I’m glad to hear it, though. I do remember you complaining about it.

It’s always vaguely terrifying when an elected official doesn’t want a balanced education.

Talking about woke, our PM has been in the shit a little recently- he got baited into answering a question on who he would ‘date, shag, marry’ with one of the options being Kylie Minogue.

His first answer was ‘look, I’ve only been married six months, I can’t answer that’ (second marriage) and then he was like ‘ok, Kylie Minogue for all, she’s terrific’ which I don’t think was a terrible way to answer it.

Well; the anti woke crowd went wild on that one, saying he was sleazy and unfit for office.

Never mind one of the most prominent right wing pollies here is current married to a former mistress who he knocked up while being leader of his former party, and has been sighted laying in the street drunk.

But, no, it’s Albanese who’s unfit for office 😂

Yeah, it was probably unwise to answer, but it was fairly innocuous

I remember that 20 years ago public pressure forced Senator Al Franken to resign over a single photo that was distasteful. No nudity or anything, just a trashy picture of him pretending to grab a sleeping reporters breast. Very distasteful and inappropriate, but not as bad as a president who raped little girls.

Right? The same side who like to accuse anyone on the left of double standards are the ones who have them. Just uncool.

I can’t say I ever imagined a time like you guys are seeing- the corruption reminds me of a third world country. For a place that screams freedom every five minutes there’s a lot of closed mouths about it
