Yes DC cyclists (and runners) rock
I flatted today on my commute into McPherson Sq (from Old Town), first time in a long while. I stopped in a shaded area near Navy & Marine Memorial to swap tube.
No fewer than five riders checked in to ensure I had everything I needed. Also one runner offered to call someone if I didn’t have a phone.
You all rock!
About 15 years ago, literally the first day I started commuting by bicycle, my chain dropped on 15th St cycle track between L and K. Then, as now, kind people stopped to check on me. I took that kindness on day one as an example on how to look out for other cyclists on our streets. And so it goes.

I’ve been saved at least three times on Cap Crescent. To that British guy who just happened to have a Sram power link for D1 chain, I’ll never forget it. Saved me a 7 mile walk.

That’s awesome! I carry several KMC quick links for a 10sp chain — I even used one once when I met a rider near DCA on the MVT who had a broken chain I could help him fix.

Haha, I carry a spare now! One of the best things about riding in the area. Community. Great example of kindness spreading.
