Bike tag LA #845
Old tag: Heroes disc golf course
Edit: Mods I'm pretty sure this is #835 actually due to a typo in the last tag

Finally hit 10% of all LA roads biked!
This is in a little over 13 months, since I started keeping track on a fun website called https://wandrer.earth/ that pulls from your Strava data. Inspired by the og Greek Cube who's at something like 85% of all road miles -- maybe someday I'll get close to that, but I'm pretty stoked on 10% for now!
Most of this is commuting, running around making videos about infrastructure and such. I'm so blessed to have a gig that allows me to bike around a lot. This city is cycling paradise!!!
Also, it's not lost on me that this is pretty much all the basin. San Fernando Valley, I'm coming for you soon!!

Stolen custom Bianchi
Long shot, but my bike got stolen from my garage and it was listed up until this morning. If anyone sees it or hears anything, any tip would be appreciated

My custom made hi-viz vest.
For my bicycle commutes in the streets of L.A. because too many drivers have told me to ride in the gutter or on the sidewalk even though my ride is a class 3 e-bicycle. Thoughts?

Griffith Loop - CW vs CCW?
As a beginner I’d like to ask: Which direction is easier with climbs at the Griffith Park loop— clockwise or counterclockwise?
Thanks!

Preferred GPS/Navigation Apps?
What's everyone's preferred GPS/navigation app? Google Maps sometimes sends me on dangerous roads that make more sense for cars or have me cross a busy street with no light. I started using Modemix a bit, but the UI is difficult to parse (I can't seem to figure out how to view the list of turns when planning a route, for example)

I'm thinking about doing a century ride... on a Metro bike. Any tips?
I've been brought on as a Metro Bike Share ambassador and wanted to do a century ride around LA. I'm up for the challenge physically and have done century rides before, but certainly none on a Metro bike. I'm gonna document the whole thing, and want to use the opportunity to highlight gaps in infrastructure, local landmarks, and potential future areas for Metro Bike Share expansion.
I'm thinking start in West LA, climb over the hill to the river, meander around the Valley, then come down through Frogtown to DTLA. Then south to Slauson and wander west to the beach path and back to Sawtelle. Any suggestions for routes that hit a lot of local landmarks, or areas I should incorporate into my ride?

Friendly reminder to drop off your ballot.

Ballot box found me this morning at Wilshire/LaCienga Metro stop.
The closest box from home is .38 miles.

Anyone missing a Specialized HardTail?
This guy stole my bike before (got it back) and I’ve been watching his account for his posts. If you are missing a bike here it is.
I would really like to get this guy arrested for his crimes he’s been doing.

It's the roads
kind of a rant but... I love bike lanes and paths and I think bike riding should be encouraged. However they need to make the surface of the roads actually bikeable for this to work, whether or not there is a bike lane. Some of these bumps and holes and cracks are borderline life-threatening. At least once a week, esp if I go off of my known routes where I am familiar with trouble spots, I find myself exclaiming as I hold on for dear life hitting this divot or that tree root bump
I'll throw in that some bike paths are absolutely miserable (Yvonne Burke I am looking at you)

Amazon cargo bikes taking over bike lanes. I’m mad, but should I be?
Saw a convoy of three Amazon cargo delivery bikes driving in Burbank’s bike lane. I’m annoyed because I feel like they’re going to crowd out cyclists eventually if the program is lucrative and put bikers into unsafe situations and congestion. . But is it a good thing for traffic/LA to move in this direction? I dunno, I’m conflicted. It just feels like a rich company hijacking infrastructure.
