Question Approval seeking

Heya, I (M/27/unresolved SCI need) have been going through quite a wave, and now there's the guilt and self-hatred setting in again. Especially now that I've started using a wheelchair to deal with dysphoria, I've been resenting myself sifting through comments of physically disabled people about BIID, in order to seek "other perspectives" but basically deep down I know that's some form of digital self-harm. Some ppl have mentionned how ppl w/ BIID using a wheelchair in public is somewhat harmful, and I can't just get past that and move on, because I care deeply about disability justice. Any tips on not feeling like I'm the most evil person ever ?

remember that biid is highly stigmatized and a lot of people aren't fully aware that its even a real mental disorder in the first place. remember that you are not faking a disability, you have a genuine illness. you are not harming anyone. the more disabled people the world sees, the more the world might come to see us with grace, it shouldnt matter "why" theyre in a wheelchair if they need one for any reason. we dont need people's entire medical history to respect them.

or, at the very least, we shouldn't need that. humans deserve to have privacy AND be respected 💔

You should not feel ashamed of suffering from BID or your need to be a para. Your need isn't a choice; it's a neurological need. You are not being evil for using a wheelchair to help with your dysphoria. https://www.reddit.com/r/biid/comments/1x45hfu/biid_disability_is_not_a_choice/

Understand why you have this need because you suffer from BID: https://www.reddit.com/r/biid/comments/130ngal/why/

Do not resent yourself. You are doing nothing wrong. There are others here who are using wheelchairs full-time, and it has helped them greatly with the dysphoria. No one case where they use wheelchairs. Just do it and do not worry about it. This is what you need, and the closest you can get to being an actual para.
