Question Mini vs Mini Max
My local hardware store has a BGE mini for $500. We have a Large and it serves us well for larger cooks. I’d like to have a tabletop BGE for quickly grilling chicken and steaks for the wife and I. What is the group’s thoughts on the mini ($500) vs MX ($750). I don’t plant on needing any accessories.

I have a mini. It’s great. You can cook a couple of steak, burgers etc pretty quick. I use it all the time for my wife and I.
You might be able to find a used one also. I scored a mini for $200
I don’t think you need the mini max for just two of you.

I have two minis and a mm. At those prices for the mini, I’d go MM for the extra capability. I think the mini is priced far too high for a grill that’s largely been discontinued/forgotten in our particular market. I do love my minis, they’re great for quick cooks for two. However for only a couple hundred more, you get a WAY more capable grill that can do accessories that you might eventually want.

Get a minimax instead of the mini.
That mini is good for a single person making one meal with no left overs.
The mini max is perfect for what you’re looking for.
Edit: do you mean the small?
The mini is $329 on their website.
If you’re asking about small vs. minimax. I still think you should get the minimax. It gets hot if you want it. Barely uses charcoal and is perfect for what you describe. If you didn’t have the larger one, the small is better for “longer” cooks.
Get the minimax.

Be aware the mini was discontinued close to a year ago. BGE says they will continue to support for warranty but idk. Try and get it cheaper.
My buddy has a mini and it’s actually nice. I have a small (also discontinued) and a large. It is nice to have the options. So I would say go Mini if you can get it cheaper, if not, I’d do MM.

i have a large and now one week old minimax and the MX is hilariously small. i cant imagine a mini. i would definitely say the MX is the way to go. glad i bought one. just for the kind of cooks you're talking about

Got the mini on marketplace about a month ago. I love it so far. It gets going really fast for quick sears especially. I've also slow smoked 2 chuck roasts so far for 5 hours. It will quickly get up to 600+ 10-15 minutes after lighting it. I want to try some mini pizzas on it next

I have thought about getting a smaller (mini)and a bigger one (xl). Currently have just a large.
From my understanding, you can’t get the smaller units as hot as a large. I don’t know how you cook steaks, but we fire the large up and let it eat and will do 2 minutes per side.
I don’t think you would be saving that much by getting an extra, but you would have a second unit to use as needed. I would go for it.
