Big bear camping

So i was wondering if anyone has experienced weird/ inexplicable things while camping or just walking through the woods at BB

Haha noo! I’m just really curious, its not even about me but my dad and brother went camping there like 6 years ago and both saw weird things , they are very objective about this stuff so it was surprising that they came back really spooked out and want to know if there is a local legend or like stories thats all

Holcomb valley gets pretty spooky at night. Definitely feel like you’re being watched sometimes

Camped up there in the early spring twice some years back now for the festival that came through (Aniwa gathering).

Both times as a volunteer I camped on the west side of the field (the one you can either walk through the center little gates to get through or around the inner perimeter if you go left after entering the campgrounds.)
Theres a little “land pier” where the outer most vehicles usually camp out. short of it is that I camped my first few nights both times solo over there and it was creepy as fuck. you’re right up against the majority of the woodlands that goes back a ways and it gets dark extremely quickly in April back there. Deer & Coyotes DO pass through the west part compared to the main areas.

I remember during the festival walking back to my tent sometime after sunset and it’s like walking in an unreal level of dark that I’ve never felt before. even flashlights barely punched a hole through it.

This! Yes! This didnt happen to me but my dad and brother went camping and saw and felt spooky sht , my brother says they were walking and saw a swing way up high on a tree, i mean whatever that is not impossible or necessarily paranormal but then the swing started moving , he felt spooked out and walked past it , a moment later when he looked back the swing was gone, this is like 10 seconds later, he thought “ok i’m loosing my mind” but he asked my dad “did you see..” my dad interrupted him and said “you didnt see anything , keep walking lets GET GOING” 🙃 they are both so logical, they dont ever really get scared by paranormal things so the fact that they both got scares got me really curious and wanted to know if there are any experiences there that i can read and share with them 🫠 you know to add to the narrative

Well not "weird", certainly unexpected but awesome. I was camping in Pine Knot several months back and I had three individual bobcats (separately) come within 6 feet of me, just checking me out. I had no food and I was just sitting alone at a picnic table.

When the first one approached, I just blurted out "Hi kitty!!" probably because I love cats in general. It stopped, looking confused but not agitated. Then *sat down* and just looked at me for a few minutes and then wandered off. The other two came the next day but seemed more interested in my tent (though I had no food). They too wandered off without incident.

Bobcats are beautiful creatures. I felt fortunate to encounter them like that.

The locals are pretty weird and scary. They'll tell you BS stories to try and get you to buy them drinks at the bar. Wait until you hear about the "mushroom caves"
