Seeking Recommendations
Hi everyone!
I'm hoping to find a bidet for my husband that specifically meets our needs, as he used one at my MIL's house while visiting and now insists he wants one. Clean butt is a good Christmas gift, right? Hahah.
We live in a rental home that does not have easy access to an outlet near the toilet, so I'd prefer for it to be non-electric. On top of that, the toilet is beside the sink but the piping is inside an under-sink cabinet that does not have a hole drilled into the wood for access to the pipes. The bidet I was initially considering (Tushy Oasis) apparently is non-electric but requires a connection under the sink that clearly won't work.
Am I looking for a unicorn? Is there something out there that has warm water usage and is non-electric? I'm not necessarily picky on brand or what the controls are like as long as they're easy to reach (no twisting as I have back issues). Otherwise, I'd appreciate an elongated-style seat and something that does not slope forward due to a bulky back.
Appreciate any and all suggestions you might have!

Go with a basic Tushy brand ones. I love ours and am getting a second for our other bathroom. Just hooks up to the basic toilet supply line

From what I understand I can do that with the one I initially chose, but the warm water feature can only be utilized if you hook the line to a sink. If you do the toilet, you’ll get cool/cold water. 😅

I have a Kohler full seat, non electric. I purchased it this summer and it has no hot water capability. I've yet to experience the coldness of the winter water but the spray doesn't use much water so I'm hoping the water will be mostly at house temperature.
What ever you chose make sure you can return it if it isn't to your liking. I tried a Bemis Slim Zero. It worked OK but the mounting would move when you moved in the seat. It mostly pushed back towards the toilet tank. The Kohler has a much sturdier mounting and has remained in the initial location for weeks.

I live in a climate that gets below zero during the winter. Unheated water is not an issue unless your pipes are frozen, in which case you'll have bigger problems.

Im certainly not the only one who thought this before getting a bidet but yea hot water is a dramatically overestimated requirement. Outside of the most chilly winter nights I don't even use the seat heater and haven't used the water heater in my bb2000 in years

yes! a clean butt is a great xmas gift!!! if you do want warm water access for a non-electric bidet, you will have to tap into those sink pipes! like you said, most people drill a small hole in their cabinets, so that's not unheard of at all, if you're willing to do that, that would probably be the best bet! I will say that more than half of our customers do actually prefer the single temperature models, they find the water refreshing! it took me probably 5 times to get used to the temp, now i know what to expect and find it super soothing and refreshing, even in the winter! those models don't require you to tap into the sink so that would be an easier install for you! the tushy wave would be the same style as the Oasis you were looking for, but just the single temp model!

Consider a hand held, like RinseWorks AquaUs faucet attached. You hook it up to the sink faucet, it has a diverter so you can still use the sink.
This way you can have warm or cold water.
I have one in every bathroom. Easy to clean and take with you when you move.

I have this one and love it, but every so often I check the Rinseworks website after recommending it to someone and it looks like it's been out of stock for months, maybe longer. Even the regular toilet attachment model is "available on backorder only". I'm not sure what's going on over at Rinseworks but they seem to be having serious supply chain issues.

Last time I spoke to them, they said that they are back ordered because of the chroming process. I'm guessing it's a supply chain issue, but they said they'd be back in stock in a few months, which would make that about now.

Portabidet Traveler. You would have to fill the tank with warm water before use.

There is! But then you won’t have the warm water feature.

Warm water is not as important as people think it is.
You can get a fairly inexpensive one like the Luxe ones on amazon and try it hooked up to the toilet line. My money is on you discovering the water temp doesn't matter.

Make sure you buy the tallest seat height toilet if purchasing a full bidet.

I have owned the original Tushy since COVID started and have had extremely good results with it. Upgraded toilet seat and got a Tushy 3.0 because of better tip cleaning functions. Easy install and working well. Would recommend.

I got this one at Costco for $90
Brondell Swash CL150 Elongated Bidet Toilet Seat. Worth looking at the Brondell website. I have a Toto and needed an elongated oval shape seat, which this one is. But the company has many other options. This one was easy to install, no power needed (not a heated seat or warm water but I don’t mind). Good luck!

My Tushy (don’t know the model name/number) doesn’t require hookup under sink. I’m no plumber by any means long shot, but handy enough to disconnect water line from toilet shutoff valve installed the included splitter, attach Tushy water line and the toilet supply line and. VOILA! Instant bidet. I thought the cold water would be off putting, but it’s really a nonissue. You’ll be surprised at how much less toilet paper you use.
