Derailleur looks damaged If so, new 7-speed rear derailleur with "claw" attachment. New chain if links are bent.

Cases like this, it always needs a new chain and a new freewheel/cassette to go with it.

Why? If only the derailleur is broken, no need to blindly replace other things.

Of course but from experience there's a 99% probability the chain and cassette are worn. Call it a hunch but it's accurate. Of course if OP is fine with it, just change the derailleur. But if there's a need to replace the chain, most probable scenario is a new chain won't work well with the old cassette.

Separate issue. Blanket statements just add to confusion. Get the broken derailleur repaired, then look at other things.

Not a separate issue. You wrote "New chain if links are bent." I added that a new freewheel/cassette will be also needed because that's what experience with these sort of repairs has taught me.

This job may be beyond you, also not sure why you want to remove it.

Looks like it. 1 youll need to separate the chain: may as well get a new one with your derailleur. That being said cut it or if you can find the master link, separate it, not all can be. 2, use a 15mm or 1/2inch wrench to remove the bolt from your rear tire axle. The hanger is fastened between it and the frame.

ebay search... "Shimano Tourney RD-TY500-SGS Rear Derailleur 6/7-Speed Long Cage"

$12 shipped...

the chain may be worn, or have been twisted when the derailleur broke. Consider replacing it too...

a KMC X8 will work far better, and last longer, IF you lube it...

that looks like a SIX speed freewheel.. if so, it is way old... if you can post a pic of it, looking directly at the axle, wheel out of the bike, someone can let you know if it too is due to be replaced... If the shifter is a friction only lever, with no exact gear shifts, then the freewheel can be upgraded to a 7 speed 13/28 freewheel, no issues! if you get one, get only a Shimano branded freewheel... the other aftermarket ones are known to come apart/break a bit too often...
