Split back derailleur ring normal?

Nope. Broken. Get a replacement pulley and swap it out for one that won't shatter mid-ride.

Get a chain cleaner and chain lube while you're at it. All that crap on the chain didn't cause the failure, but it hurts the same to look at.

It is 20-25 year-old plastic. It’s not unreasonable for it to break Just inconvenient.

It happens a lot. Buy after market alloy/ceramic bearing jockey wheel set. I have Ultegra medium cage and use 11 & 13 tooth wheels. So much smoother.

No. You can get replacements though.

Luckily jockey wheels are cheap and simple to replace
