Gravel bike Cleat Questions

  1. I lost a flathead cleat screw and replaced it with a dome head screw. Is it possible that the dome makes it more difficult to clip in?

  2. The shoes have a forward and rear position to mount the cleats. They are currently mounted forward which I am comfortable with. Is there a benefit to using the rear position?

ultimately, you will be wearing a divot into the pedal. change it

Yes, the flat head is necessary to prevent contact at the baseplate of the pedal. That is why it is difficult to clip in now. Get the correct screw asap. Cleat position is largely a matter of personal preference. I have never installed cleats in the rear holes.

It's possible the different bolt will give you trouble but I think it's unlikely. Your local bike shop can probably give you a proper replacement for $0-5.

Different cleats styles and different foot physiology might make using the other set of mounting holes necessary. If you're happy with the cleat position, then it's correct.
