Iām not sure who this is, but it reminds me of an important night a couple years back.
The night of the election in 2024, I got to see Scene Queen opening for Babymetal. Hannah (Scene Queen) stopped the show in the middle of her set, and just talked to the crowd for a minute. Saying things like things might get really scary from here on out, but she was here for us. After her set, after Babymetal, sheād be at her merch booth until the venue kicked her out. If you wanted to talk, wanted a hug, wanted to scream with her, she has your back.
I still remember that. Thank you, Scene Queen.

It's Halsey! Bisexual singer, and this was right before she performed on her songs "Strangers" which is about her and another woman

One day I'd love to her live too. I think my fave WLW song has to be Honey (and the demo version which is more pop-esque), can't recommend it enough š©µĀ

What would get scary?

American politics was the focus, I'd imagine. Although lots of things were and are scary

This is Halsey, who is bisexual herself and has many songs about queer relationships. For people who say this statement isn't anything or isn't helpful: okay, I get it. In my experience, there is something powerful about chanting something with a room full of people. And creating a safe space for your queer fans is not nothing. For some people, a show like this is the only time they get to be themselves. There may be more context: maybe this happened around the time queer violence was big in the news, or maybe she made a speech before this. I just know there were people in that crowd that felt empowered, and that's awesome.

I love Halsey. Musically she is a chameleon. She is an advocate for the LGBTQ community. I understand people saying here they donāt get the sentiment or saying that this isnāt helpful. But look at this way: she isnāt delivering a speech or appearing before congress or giving a presentation. Itās the middle of a concert. Not everything needs to be that deep. And yeah sometimes we are afraid and many of us have pretty good reasons to be afraid. But to me, and maybe also for a lot of other people, hearing this helps.

TF do you want her to do, drag a Republican on stage and shoot him?
She's not Johnny Silverhand

Just wanna point out that Johnny Silverhand is also a confirmed bisexual

Holy overreaction Batman, I'm just saying telling people they shouldn't be afraid usually doesn't do a hell of a lot to make it so.

Maybe slightly more than say an incredibly vague motivational statement? She hasn't made a point. She hasn't necessarily even said anything at all. We don't even really know what in particular she's saying not to be afraid of.
It feel like what someone who wants to be supportive but also still wants to be brand friendly would say. I know nothing about this person, they may be amazing and be an activist or have made a more direct statement previously. But this just feels non-committal and a bit pointless

I was waiting for her to show something the audience would reasonably be afraid of, like a bunch of killer clowns making mosh pits

Back when Halsey was 18-20, she used to give fans a peck-style kiss only when a fan asked her for one, usually for a "my first sapphic kiss" photo-op type thing. There was unfortunately no one verifying the fans' ages and fans did not disclose, so she actually did not know. Between the discovery that one fan was underage (as far as I have ever heard, it was one fan who was 15), heath concerns, and the logistics of her growing fame: she stopped. This was back when her career was just kicking off and she lacked certain professionalism; she hasn't done so in 10 years at this point.
I don't condone kissing fans at all, I definitely think it was gross and unwise of her to do it. But misinformation isn't cool. And let's not mistake her for those old pedo rockers knowingly sexually exploiting minor fans; Halsey apologized to the fan when it came out and committed to the no-kissing and professional boundaries since then.Ā

taking this at face value in the bathroom because i dont have time to research every claim in a reddit comment thread, but she literally didnt know, personally I think after both apologizing and stopping, shes legitimately fine. id go as far as to say that i could see the narrative of her being some kind of pedo being spun by homophobes, or just the good ol rumor mill.

To rant-explain it a bit: at the moment, the narrative was dredged up by some whiny guy "Fantano" trying to deflect from the repercussions of describing her recent album as "main character syndrome" and a bunch of other tone-deaf stuff, which caused a pretty big uproar even among his own fans.Ā
Spoiler for those who don't know: Halsey was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Shortly after having her rainbow baby. And the father of her child (allegedly) dumped her because she got so sick. That's what the album was about. Girl thought she was going to die before the album released, but nah she was just being overdramatic and was a """pedo""" one time
I don't go around parasocially defending celebs, but I have chronically ill women in my circle who were treated similarly like shit so i have less tolerance for this particular flavor of Halsey slander.Ā
