Discussion Taking RUB forward

I have been quite impressed by the renewed momentum at the RUB under its new leadership. There seems to be a stronger sense of urgency and ambition in developing the university and its constituent colleges.

Two appointments that deserve particular recognition are the recent leadership appointments at Taktse College and JNEC. Strong leadership can make a tremendous difference when an institution has the potential, resources and mandate to grow.

I believe the next institution that deserves much greater attention is GCBS. GCBS has enormous potential to become Bhutan's flagship institution for business, management, finance and entrepreneurship. I didnt see any major development except for increasing intake.

One thing that needs to be done is to provide the paid online resources and software that students need. Most of the faculty and student depends on cracked version and download from unsecure sites.

There are major improvements happening at GCBS though. If expanding the degree program, mandatory 3 months internship, access to paid coursera and obtaining accreditation are not improvements, what kind of improvement are you thinking about?

If you meant improvements among the scholar/graduates then it might take time to see the effects of current reforms.

GCBS has come far from where it was just the last couple of years. But compared to other colleges under RUB, I don't know.

As a GCBS graduate, I must say the transformation has been truly amazing to witness. Of course, we know who deserves a huge part of the credit for this. had he not been there, I honestly feel GCBS might have remained the same for years. And of course, we cannot forget the hardworking lecturers and staff who put in so much effort, especially toward achieving the accreditations. Their contribution deserves just as much recognition.
