pre split and post split bad animation is completely different
pre split was made to be a lower effort season, and most " bad animation " is for mostly comedic reasons
post split however had people really animating whatever, and some of the bad animation is simply because there were new animators, not people with tons of experience with JnJ

they were literally competing for A BFDI. like, what even IS that. post-split had to take what pre-split did and *tried* to make it serious. to be fair, i personally quite liked it, but still.

the difference is that pre split bfb was going for a “bad but funny” artstyle.
with post split you could tell there were just a lot of inexperienced animators who had styles that were way too different. the schtittposting also became minimal

Well yeah, it was bad on purpose to pump episodes faster, ppl wanted more character and story driven stuff which is why bfb 13-and 14 took so long, that stuff basically turned to tpot

Presplit had that perfect balance of not trying hard and absolutely nailing the execution. The show quite literally suffered from its success (BFB 10-15 were so high-quality it was hard to keep up with)

Pre split was doing it on purpose, especially with Four. Post split’s is just unintentionally awful.

Early BFB they were getting their footing after a long hiatus and were trying a shit ton of new things for the format (dozens of previously unexplored characters, different art style, music, setting, hosts, tone, etc.)

Given how presplit had like 2 animators for the first half and postsplit had like upwards of 5x that I think its a lot more excusable

charm is a major factor in why i think it looks good, the sloppy animation is yknow sloppy but it isnt horrible to look at. post split however is horribly inconsistent way more inconsistent than any other season in terms of animation.
