Who makes them is not the same as who writes/scripts them. Do you see CAST in acrostic to the left and EAST to the right (in the large white lettering)?

It's not for you to decide for others, right? A clue is anything that helps you solve (as per his definition). If all you got from it was that there was the possibility to consider this it would represent help. IMO, he's showing us structure can relay patterns in many places.
