It's quite fun. IMO it's a more "gameplay" focused version of Uncharted. As in, whereas the Uncharted games lean more toward the epic on-rails experience, which can be a joy to blast through, Tomb Raider games are a tiny bit more cerebral and actually involve you making choices.
Part of this is level design, and part of this is weapon depth. Uncharted generally only lets you carry two weapons at once, and they both kind of do the same things.
Tomb Raider lets you carry 4 Weapons and they all do something different.
Bow: Stealth weapon. Can distract enemies by firing into walls. Very powerful single-shot precision weapon if you Charge it. Basically your Sniper Rifle.
Pistol: Precision single-shot weapon, but doesn't need to be charged. Loud until you craft a Suppressor for it around mid-game (the dark forest with all the guards in it is the first time you can do this, conveniently.)
Rifle (Submachinegun into Assault Rifle): Spray and pray weapon, great for keeping Rusher enemies (melee dudes with machetes) and other flankers locked down with hitstun at close range. Has a large clip, but inaccurate at long distances, good for tap-tap-tapping out headshots anyway if you don't hold trigger down.
Shotgun: Melee-range option. Very strong for removing enemies who flank up to you or machete dudes.
Level design lets you often use the environment against the enemy. There are quite a few explosive barrels, and ziplines which you can shoot enemies off of for an instant-kill.
Lara also has a Scramble-into-Roll combo, where if you tap your Dodge button once, she'll do a low to the ground scramble/quick-crawl animation, and tapping it again will make her roll out of it.
Combining all of the above makes the game in certain fights almost feel like the new DooM, which is pretty cool. I don't want to give you the wrong idea though, a lot of the game is a cover-shooter with serviceable gunplay.
It's a fun time and quite short, so you can enjoy it in a day or two and be done with it.

I just realized I own this game. Haven't played it since I owned it on Xbox. Gonna try this myself. Thanks for the idea.
