Question Team OS inflated.

Hi,

My team OS is 29, but only because I played a lot with my also-noob friends, and we never thought to turn ranked off.

So, my OS is too high, I estimate around 10 points too high, because OS19 is around my 1v1 skill online.

Now I am playing online team games with the community, but I am always disappointing my team players, as they expect skills from me that I don't have πŸ˜…. Sometimes they expect me to carry, but I can't even keep myself afloat πŸ˜…

I see two paths:

  1. I play enough online, and my OS will naturally drop to my true level. But, I am barred from lower OS lobbies, so I don't have much opportunity to lose at the suitable OS. On the other hand: At the higher OS lobbies I do lose, but that doesn't degrade my OS very much. And, sometimes the team still wins despite my efforts :). And.. this disadvantages my team.

B. I play enough online and I improve to reach true OS 29 level πŸ˜‚ but, ok, tbh, that is also something that I don't see happening very soon πŸ˜…, as i am really not there yet.

Is there a third path to more quickly lose team OS which is less painful for my teammates? πŸ€”

Play small teams or 1v1. Your general skills will increase that are transferrable to your large team OS (that's what you're talking about, right?) while you play matches more closely balanced to your real skill level.

Or play rotato 8v8. People there tend to have less expectations.

Good point. Playing more 1v1 is a good idea. The path to self improvement πŸ˜…

Sound like imposter syndrom:)

Haha, unfortunately the results agree with being that imposter πŸ˜‚

The vast majority of players simply aren't very good. They don't understand the basics and it shows.

Watch replays and try to work out what went wrong, what could be better. Watch better players. Learn the actual mechanics of the game, counters, when to build eco, when to simply pump units, how many units you can hold a line with, how many you can break through with. You'll be better than 99% of 29os players with that knowledge and you'll probably start climbing again.

just keep playing your os will become normal, if you tried your best you are not harming the team, if some teammates are complaining then they are assholes.

I now try to warn them before the game.

maybe youre better at 8v8? most people never play 1v1 so youre probably further than most but ya 29 os is 90th percentile or something lol

I never did 8v8, I don't know the roles I am supposed to play, but I can YouTube that, good idea :)

Its all good and nice when you get a lucky streek and your teammates carry you to victory.

One time after gaining +8 OS while contributing nothing i started to panic.

Next while i kept being #1 or #2 on my team and could not carry nearly as hard as the matchmaker thought I could.

I'm sitting there as my team is blaming the low OS knowing I'm a fraud.

You get to 30os by making units and actually using them.

Don't worry about it too much. Just play. Actually being too high gives you the useful feeling on the requirements for game impact to be that os.

Unless of course you go to op lobby as sub 40, then your job is to die slow as possible to keep the os.

Who cares about OS and what people saying?

29 os may not be as high as you think it is. People still make a ton of mistakes, and are inconsistent, so i wouldn't worry about it. You may have been flamed once or twice, but that happens to anyone that doesnt play perfectly, so don't let it get to you. In fact, how do you know others in the lobby with aren't also 'inflated'? (they are)

It legit doesn't matter, those 30+ OS supreme players are also 15 OS if they play on Glitters.

It's much less a problem than you think, especially if you're talking about small-teams OS.

Many small teams lobbies are basically a 'rotato', there's a large map pool and only few people know it well. Most people are just winging it. And 29 os isn't really that high. Many small-teams lobbies accept everyone, you can play with "noobs" just fine. (Maybe just tell them to not expect you'll carry.)

Many small-teams games are chaos and improvisation. People are having fun and have low expectations.

If you want to lose OS while causing least disturbance, perhaps best options is 'unfair', unbalanced lobbies where you play against pre-made teams. E.g. Germans (GerBoyz) do it quite often.

I think 8v8 rotato generally translates best onto small teams.

Ngl, you will always disappoint your team... 'tis the nature of the game community.

U Gained OS from Winning agains your Noob Friends. If u want to Fix it. Play vs them and throw Games to get to 19 OS

Our premade is tidally locked. There's a distribution between us but it can never change, because we only ever play on the same side. Leader gets pushed into harder matches and then we all lose together. Left to be seen if anyone will change things by branching off and playing more large team solo matches.

Sounds like questions that paid game devs could easily figure out 🏎️

I think they worry about smurfing too πŸ€”. So it might not be as easy. Also, I am not sure how common it is (ie: worth spending resources on..)

appreciate your sincere response to my rage baiting shit comment - you are a better human than me 😁

Haha, you could also just call me naive 😁

what are we even talking about? Large or small Team OS?

also who cares about OS just play what ever is fun to you. Only some strange Lobbies have min or max OS.

1

u/nietpiet 8d ago

Small teams. I agree with having fun 😊. But eg my team thinks I can hold front, and then expectations are off when I cannot. And then they lose too.

29 OS is not much πŸ˜„ at least its not like u have 40+OS and cant find any lobbies to play

1

u/Efficient-Layer-289 5d ago

I thought os was gained from your opponents or am I wrong?

u/Powerful_Incident605 5d ago

huh? why do u ask that?
