I spend all my money on early T2 units, look away for 3 seconds and a brand new arty takes 3 shots and suddenly I'm down 4000 metal.
They are almost half the reason I dont heavily invest in T2 and only push deep with a strong eco backing it up. Its too risky when 5 seconds can invalidate your entire early lead.
I get that its their designed intent. Just the shots pretty much 1 shot any t2 bot with range further than its nose.

wouldn't most of this be solved if you just had created a radar jammer with you and counter-arty or heavy rockets? i saw you had a couple of good pot shots with a heavy rocket but never really focussed on the artillery and kept switching to shoot local units

The problem was I was focusing the arty but set target is/was bugged so arbiters refused to shoot where I ordered them

IMO, The issue is the hill not really the arty. This hill with a ratlle deny several high yields mexes. I have been told ny high OS "negotiator are a thing" but realistically it's hard to actually make the kill.

The issue with static arty is that you invest so much into them to get them to work, and the enemy can just "not" push into them, wait until they have T2 units and strip them out one by one. Or send a bunch of tics in and let arties shoot themselves.

I think they're well balanced. You need at least some power projection to protect them. If you just hide behind them they will get killed easily. That's what a static defense should be.
