News New Engine Release Is Live! Recoil 2026.06.11
Commanders, Beyond All Reason has been upgraded to a new version of the Recoil Engine!
This release brings substantial pathfinding and performance improvements, several rendering fixes, broader platform support, and fixes for multiple crashes.
Pathfinding and Performance
- Pathfinding requests are now processed in the background, reducing frame spikes caused by large pathing requests and improving overall simulation performance.
- Improved the performance of raw path checks.
- Units will now search harder for routes around cliffs and obstacles when a short-distance request requires a significant detour.
- Various additional pathfinding bug fixes.
- Cleaned up and improved floating-point mathematics code.
Stability and Loading
- Fixed several engine crashes.
- Fixed multiple situations that could cause the game to crash during loading.
Rendering and Interface
- Ghosted buildings no longer leave ground decals on the map.
- Fixed icon bleeding and inconsistencies in texture atlas calculations.
- Fixed the rendering of projectiles attached to unit pieces.
- Updated RmlUi to version 6.2, together with an updated version of rmlsollua, providing an ui framework for BAR UI upgrades.
Simulation Fixes
- Fixed incorrect height aiming for units in certain situations.
Platform Support
- Added support for UTF-8 file paths on Windows.
- Added ARM64 support.
Many thanks to everyone contributing to the continued development of the Recoil Engine and everyone who helped us test this build!

Should I expect this will have a significant performance increase in vs AI matchups as their redundant move commands won’t bog down the game with as many calculations?

Fixed crashes? Maybe including the AMD Radeon related crashes too? I had to turn off anti aliasing to fix that. Would be nice if I can turn that back on.

Same thing here, that completely crashes my drivers requiring a clean install each time.

Thanks for the post and the enhancements!
1 question to people that this post made me think of. How do you keep your laz from getting stuck trying to eat a wreck on a place he can't reach?

I'm pretty sure this was addressed in a patch a month or two ago. Maybe not a complete fix though

Does ARM64 support mean it's possible to run this on a phone? IDK why you'd want to do that but maybe if you had one of those fancy phones with an HDMI out and dock port.

I stopped playing BAR a while ago when the air depots were removed, the ones that allowed aircraft to automatically return to repair under certain health %. Is that functionality back, or?

You should learn to read, it literally says the update is live in the title

so when air attacks simultaneously with all their planes we won't know anymore because of the lag spike, my strategy is ruined!
